فسُئِل عليه السلام عن معنى قوله هذا، فجمع أصابعه ووضعها بين أذنه وعينه ثم قال:
"الباطل أنْ تقولَ سَمعتُ والحق أنْ تقولَ رأيتُ"

It’s a truism in medicine that difficult diagnoses are most likely to be made by the most or least experienced doctors.
The most senior have a broad set of experiences that allows them to consider many different possibilities. Because they are open to a wide variety of observations, fewer pertinent findings are filtered out.
What about the novice? They have no expectations and there is some evidence that this lack of preset experience-based biases allows them to look more carefully at the entire picture.

إنّ خبراء الصحة العقلية الذين يدّعون الخبرة بدون أساس علمي قد كانَ لهم أثرٌ ثقافي بالغ من حيث أنّهم شكّلوا تصوّراتنا عن ماهية الحياة الجيدة، وماهية السلوكيات التي تعتبر مرغوبة في المجتمع، والأهم، كيف "يجب" أنْ نشعر تجاه العالَم. إنّ أكثر هذه القناعات سوءًا هو أنّ تصرفات البالغين تعود جذورُها غالبًا لتجارب الطفولة، حتى الصغيرة منها وغير الواضحة تمامًا، وبالأخص تلك التي تزيد أو تقلّل من الثقة بالنفس.
