فان غوته جان شاعر الماني، كتب قصيدة قصصية بسنة (1774) اسمها "The King in Thule"
تتكلم عن ملك لمدينة "خيالية" اسمها "Thule" وقصتة وية حبيبتة والكأس الي هدتة إلة وطبعا لحنهة أكثر من ملحن منهم فريدرش ريتشاردت فرانز شوبرت وغيرهم..

There was a king in Thule,
Was faithful till the grave,
To whom his mistress, dying,
A golden goblet gave.
Nought was to him more precious;
He drained it at every bout;
His eyes with tears ran over,
As oft as he drank thereout.
When came his time of dying,
The towns in his land he told,
Nought else to his heir denying
Except the goblet of gold.
He sat at the royal banquet
With his knights of high degree,
In the lofty hall of his fathers
In the castle by the sea.
There stood the old carouser,
And drank the last life-glow;
And hurled the hallowed goblet
Into the tide below.
He saw it plunging and filling,
And sinking deep in the sea:
Then fell his eyelids for ever,
And never more drank he

كال نيوبورت بكتابه Digital minimalism يفرّق بين التواصل connection والمحادثة conversation من حيث أنّ المحادثة هي تفاعل بين شخصين بالعالم الحقيقي وتتطلب الانتباه لكمية جبيرة من المعلومات؛ لغة الجسد، نبرة الصوت، تعابير الوجه، حركة العيون، طريقة الكلام، وغيرها. بينما التواصل (مثل المراسلة texting) يتطلب الانتباه لمعلومات بسيطة نسبيًا، فقط قراءة شوية كلمات ويمكن شوية ايموجيز. وهالشي ممكن يفسّر ليش يزيد احساسنا بالوحدة كلما نستخدم السوشيل ميديا أكثر. لأن السوشيل ميديا تختلف عن المجتمع الحقيقي من حيث أنها ما تلبي رغبتنا بالعلاقات البشرية الغنية بالمعلومات واللي تخلينا نتواصل على مستوى عميق، أعمق بهواي من شوية أحرف ووجه حزين :")
