Psychologist Susan Darker-Smith points out that young girls who identify with characters like Cinderella or belle from 'Beauty And The Beast' are more likely to end up in an abusive relationship as adults.
While she was interviewing victims of domestic abuse, Darker-Smith found that many identified with the heroines of these stories which state that 'love conquers all'. [They believe] If their love is strong enough, they can change their partner's behavior.
