This year on March 8, there won't be any Women's March in Kazakhstan. This doesn't mean we can't speak up. We are conducting Town Hall meeting supported by the PSIR department and student community members. This event is dedicated to crucial topic of the prevention of gender and sexual violence nationally and within NU. It is open for all majors!

Date and Time: Thursday, March 7th at 10:30 AM
Location: Green Hall
Audience: ALL MAJORS

This Town Hall meeting will serve as a platform for discussion, education, and action planning in the fight against gender violence. We have invited several speakers to share their insights, research, and strategies for prevention and response to gender violence. Following the presentations, we will open the floor to all attendees to express their opinions, concerns, and suggestions. Feel free to bring your posters!

💜 We are excited to invite you to the public discussion forum “Strength in Solidarity: Confronting Stalking and Domestic Abuse” featuring Canadian officials from the Department of Justice. This event will take place on May 23, 2024, from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Nazarbayev University (Green Hall, Block C2).

🌐 This forum is a unique opportunity to engage with scholars, civil society organizations, students, and the broader public on the issues of domestic violence and GBV.

🇰🇿🇨🇦 В рамках межправительственного Проекта сотрудничества Казахстана и Канады в области правосудия представители Министерства юстиции Канады приезжают в г. Астану, для встречи с Правительством Казахстана и различными организациями гражданского общества для обсуждения стратегий борьбы со сталкингом (преследованием) и домашним насилием. Канадские эксперты также примут участие в форуме под названием “Сила в солидарности: противостояние сталкингу (преследованию) и домашнему насилию” в стенах НУ.

📌 Форум состоится 23 мая 2024 в Назарбаев Университете (18:00-20:00, Зеленый зал, блок С2). Цель этого форума - привлечь внимание ученых, гражданского общества, студентов и общественности к актуальным проблемам сталкинга (преследования) и домашнего насилия.

🤝 Ключевыми темы дискуссии:
- Понимание характеристик преследования (сталкинга), его взаимосвязи с домашним насилием и его глубокого воздействия на жертв;
- Сравнение правовых подходов к борьбе со сталкингом и наказанию за него в различных юрисдикциях;
- Изучение стратегий укрепления международного сотрудничества в борьбе со сталкингом и домашним насилием.

Hosted by E.Quality Club in collaboration with Alternativa CA, this event is part of the 16 Days Against Gender-Based Violence Campaign, with support from the NU Anti-Harassment Committee.

We are excited to share a new initiative — Künde Hot Lunch for Everyone. This initiative was created by the NU community — Künde, E.Quality club, Art Studio club, NU alumni, and PSIR professors — for the NU community. Together, we hope to make our campus a warmer, kinder place.

Starting today, a number of free hot lunches will be available daily in Künde. These meals have already been paid for and are ready for anyone to enjoy. On the blackboard you’ll find today’s sets and numbers available:

Set 1: Lentil Soup + Thai Chicken
Set 2: Noodle Soup + Beef Stroganoff
Set 3: Minestrone + Fettuccine Alfredo
Set 4 (Vegetarian): Full Lentil Soup + Penne Arrabbiata

To receive your meal, simply go to the checkout and ask:

This initiative is designed with zero judgement. Anyone can use it, for any reason — maybe you forgot your wallet, had unexpected expenses, or it’s simply one of those days. It’s also completely fine to use it regularly, even every day — we want you to eat well. We don’t care why — what matters is that everyone has the right to a hot, nourishing meal.
