Fanaticism is an extreme and uncritical attachment to an idea, belief, or group. It often develops when emotions overpower logic and people stop questioning what they follow.

Teenagers are more vulnerable to fanaticism because they’re still forming their identity, are highly influenced by peers, and often seek belonging and purpose. Strong emotions, limited life experience, and constant exposure to extreme content—especially on social media—can make them more susceptible.

Teenagers often grow out of fanaticism over time as they mature and gain life experience. As they get older, their thinking becomes more critical and less emotional, helping them question extreme beliefs rather than accept them blindly. Exposure to different people, cultures, and ideas also broadens their perspective and reduces black-and-white thinking.

With age, responsibility, and education, most teenagers learn to balance passion with reason, turning strong emotions into healthier, more thoughtful opinions.
