• I eat = always.
• I’m eating = now.

2. There / Their / They’re🍰
• There = place.
• Their = belongs to them.
• They’re = they are.

3. Fun Words🦅🦅
• Gobsmacked = very shocked.
• Bamboozle = trick.
• Kerfuffle = small fuss.

4. Words that sounds the same but different meanings

• Though / Through / Tough / Thought → low-key, English is crazy. 🙂‍↔️

5. Idioms
• Break the ice = start talking 🗣️
• Bite the bullet = face it 💥😔
• Hit the sack = sleep 💤

🎤 Use a range of grammatical structures

• Speaking Test's assessment criteria :

- Fluency and coherence
- Vocabulary
- Grammatical range and accuracy
- Pronunciation

- Allocated marks : 24 marks
- Percentage : 25%

• Try and use a range of grammatical structures using simple and complex sentences to express what you want to say.

🤔 What's simple and complex sentences ?

- Example of simple sentences :

1. I like to wear my blue coat
2. I barely passed the difficult exam
3. The bus had already left
4. I don't really like outdoor activities

- Example of complex sentences :

1. Whenever it rains, I like to wear my blue coat
2. Although I was considered smart, I barely passed the difficult exam
3. When we arrived at the station, the bus had already left
4. Since I'm not an athletic person, I don't really like outdoor activities

🎤 Practice makes perfect

• Practice speaking to friends in English, or record yourself to see if you can spot errors. If you hear an error, make sure to correct yourself.

🎤 Pause to think

• There is no harm in taking a brief pause to think about what to say.
• This can make you seem more fluent in arranging your sentences.
• However, don't take too long to think because every second counts.

🎤 Smile

• Smiling can help calm your nerves which in turn helps your pronunciation. Make sure to enunciate clearly, opening your mouth wide enough so that sounds come out clearly.
• When we smile, the tone of our voice is more friendly. This can influence the accessor to give us higher marks.

🎤 Practice common topics

• Practice common topics, like SPM Trial's questions with friends, family or colleagues to improve and to learn vocabulary associated with each topic.
• Common topics you can practice for the Speaking Test include :

1) Tourism and travel
2) Education
3) Transport
4) Environment
5) Family life
6) Sport and recreation
7) Crime and punishment
8) The internet
9) Advertising and retail
10) Public figures
