You say the phrase "Just you wait!" as a way to threaten someone. Example - (A mom talking to her son) Just you wait, Thomas, (=начувайся) till I come home!
Deterrent is something that deters (prevents) people from doing something. Example - Tougher prison sentences may act as a deterrent to other would-be offenders.
I guess the smell of his breath must act as a deterrent to any man.

If your speech, explanations, arguments, etc. are convoluted, they are unreasonably long and difficult to understand. Example - The president's speech was full of convoluted sentences.
If you bow and scrape to someone, you show too much politeness or attention to someone. Example - It's embarrassing to see people bowing and scraping to the new CEO.
Traction is the fact of an idea, product, etc. becoming popular or being accepted. Example - In our digital age, it takes less time for new words and phrases to gain traction than it did in the past.
I hope Mr. Trump's idea of building a wall at the border with Mexico will not get any traction in the Congress.
If your hands or legs flail, they move energetically in an uncontrolled way. Example - A wasp came towards us und Howard started flailing his arms around.

In English there is a phrase “Beware the ides of March” used to warn someone of a potentially dangerous situation. 

In Shakespeare's play "Julius Caesar", it was used as a warning given to Caesar about 15 March, the day on which he was assassinated. Example - The way things have worked out for the team this month, they should have heeded the warning - beware the ides of March!

If something is arcane, it is mysterious and understood only by a few people. Example - I guess you have to be a lawyer yourself to understand their arcane language.
If someone's behaviour is sycophantic, it means that they praise people in authority in a way that is not sincere, usually in order to get some advantage from them. Example - There was sycophantic laughter from the audience at every one of his terrible jokes.
Toady is a person who praises and is artificially pleasant to people in authority, usually in order to get some advantage from them. Example - Everywhere he goes he is surrounded by an entourage of toadies.
If you slobber over something, you show much you admire and like someone, in a way that shows little control. Example - Ted was slobbering over the pretty new assistant in marketing.
If you don't want to soil your hands with something, you don't want to become involved in something unpleasant or bad. Example - I didn't want to soil my hands with (=бруднити руки) this job.
If you take the pledge, you make a formal promise to stop drinking alcohol. Example - You're drinking orange juice on Friday night? You've taken the pledge or something?
If you expiate, you show that you are sorry for bad behaviour by doing something or accepting punishment. Example - Mike wanted to expiate a crime he committed years ago.
Prowler is someone who moves around quietly in a place, trying not to be seen, often before committing a crime. Example - Before the attack, several prowlers were reported to be seen near the square.
If you say "all kidding aside" or "all jokes aside", you mean that from now on you are going to speak seriously. Example - Ok, Stephen, all kidding aside (= а тепер без жартів, шутки в сторону). Now tell me, did you speak to her?
You raise the alarm, when you want to make people understand the danger of something. Example - It was doctors Wilson who first raised the alarm (=бив на сполох) about the latest virus.
If you gabble, you speak quickly and not clearly so that it is difficult to understand. Example - She started gabbling away at me in Spanish and I didn't understand a word.
