📚 What books to read in English?

Reading in a foreign language can greatly boost your writing skills as well as contribute to expanding your range of vocabulary. Don’t underestimate reading activities outside the sessions.

📌 If your level is A1-A2 here are some books you might enjoy reading as a beginner:

🟣 “Looking for Alaska” by John Green
The book is about teenage boy Miles Halter. The book covers multiple themes, like searching for the meaning of life, grief, loneliness, friendship, and more.

🟣 “Me Before You” by Jojo Moyes
This is an extremely touching love story that might make you cry. Its characters are flawed, which makes them much more appealing and realistic.

🟣 “Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone” by J.K. Rowling
Harry Potter books make for a great introduction to the English language. Written for children and young adults, the language is somewhat simple, making the books accessible for people with a low level of English.

Resign vs. re-sign

Resign = quit your job
👨‍💼I didn’t get paid enough, so I had to resign.

Re-sign = sign a contract again

Uninterested vs. disinterested

📌Uninterested = bored / not interested in something
When I have my phone with me, I’m uninterested in studying.

📌Disinterested = objective / not taking a side in an argument
The judge at the court must be disinterested to make a fair decision.

🧷“The Power” by Naomi Alderman
This is a gender-twisting dystopian novel in which young women discover they have immense electrical power that could be used for good, but unsurprisingly is more often harnessed for evil.
