Cardinal Zen has always upheld the peaceful, rational and nonviolence principles, whilst the “612 Humanitarian Relief Fund”, which he was one of the trustees of, was only an organisation that provided humanitarian relief to cover legal and medical costs for protesters arrested during Hong Kong’s pro-democracy movement since 2019 – how is he a threat to national security? Even more absurd is his charge: Cardinal Zen had been archbishop of the Hong Kong Catholic diocese for years, and suddenly him reflecting conditions of human rights and religious freedom of his diocese to the Holy See (Pope) and the media becomes “collusion”?


Our church believes that the arrest, just as the “Three Rectifications and One Demolition”, is an alarming sign to Christian communities, and clearly reflects the hardline position of the Chinese Communist Party to Christianity. It shows that the CCP deem its rule above the Truth of Christ, and that every sphere of religion is to be controlled by the government. 


Seeing that the CCP’s religious repression to be stretching out and looming over Hong Kong, our church encourages our Hong Kong brothers and sisters in Christ to strengthen hope in the Lord’s righteousness amid difficult times, and to remain true to the faith in the Holy Catholic Church. To clergymen, may they have the courage, as well as wisdom from Holy God (Holy Ghost) when working for the Lord. May God the Father care for Pastor Garry Pang Moon-Yuen, who was arrested after applauding the June 4 Tiananmen Massacre commemoration vigil organiser Chow Hang-Tung in a hearing, and was then charged with the intent to bring hatred, or excite disaffection against, the administration of justice," and "encouraging disobedience to law and order” – may the Lord keep Your own servant safe. May our brothers and sisters in Christ grow together despite trials, and laying aside denominational differences, support and lookout for each other. 


Finally, we curse the wicked and those who are against the Truth of Christ. Leaders and judges should be particularly cautious, for hubris sets on the fire of hell, and whoever blindly follows unjust laws would not go unpunished.   


Psalm 58

1 Do you rulers indeed speak justly?
    Do you judge people with equity?
2 No, in your heart you devise injustice,
    and your hands mete out violence on the earth.

    from the womb they are wayward, spreading lies.
