As the night falls, we are approaching the 25th Rajab of the lunar Islamic month, marking the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Musa Kazim (A), the seventh infallible Imam of the Ummah and the entire creation.
Imam Musa Kazim (A) faced repeated summonses and imprisonments by the Abbasid caliphs during his imamate. He was first taken from Medina to Baghdad by the command of the Abbasid caliph, Mahdi Abbasi. Harun also imprisoned the Imam (A) two times, the details of the first arrest not mentioned, but the second occurred in Medina on Shawwal 20, 179 (January 6, 796). He was imprisoned in Basra in the house of ‘Isa bin Ja’far.
Harun allegedly wrote a letter asking ‘Isa bin Ja’far to kill the Imam (A), but he refused. The Imam (A) was later moved to the prison of Fazl bin Rabi’, spending his last years in the prisons of Fazl bin Yahya and the Jew Sindi bin Shahik. In his ziyarah text, he is referred to as “tortured in the depths of the prisons.”
Imam Musa Kazim (A) was martyred by the worst of the creation and the Jew Sindi bin Shahik. His corpse was placed on Baghdad’s bridge with the false claim of natural death.
