Saudi Arabia’s major blunder for the umpteenth time!

The downing of the heavy Saudi Bayraktar Akıncı drone over the skies of Al Jawf is considered a significant and, of course, relatively straightforward success for Yemen’s air defenses. The Akıncı, with a wingspan of approximately 20 meters and a multi-ton takeoff weight, is a strategic combat drone designed for long range reconnaissance, electro-optical surveillance, and the deployment of guided munitions.

Its large dimensions, greater radar cross section, and operation at relatively high altitudes make it more vulnerable to radar detection, optical tracking, and surface-to-air missile systems. This incident also demonstrates that Saudi intelligence and offensive operations deep inside Al Jawf, without effective electronic warfare support and suppression of enemy air defenses, can come at a very high cost.

🇯🇴 | Satellite imagery confirms multiple impacts on Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan. Notably, the affected areas remained intact prior to this round of strikes. Confirmed damage includes two aircraft shelters, one AN/TPY-2 radar site, U.S. soldier barracks, MQ-9 drone hangars, two newly constructed storage facilities, and one newly built air defense site. The imagery also highlights damage to infrastructure that had only recently been constructed or upgraded.

🇾🇪 | Sanaa Government Transport Minister Mohammed Quhaim to Al Masirah TV:

- Saudi Arabia has been bombing the Port of Al Hudaydah since the very first day of its brutal aggression against Yemen.

- The Saudi enemy imposed an inspection and permit mechanism, forcing containers to wait in Djibouti for months, with all of this negatively affecting ordinary citizens.

- War risk insurance for a single shipping container has reached up to US$12,000, compared to only US$2,000 to US$3,000 at other ports.

- The Saudi enemy sends threatening messages to shipping companies, warning them against sailing to the Port of Al Hudaydah.

- For the past 12 years, numerous goods and equipment have been banned from entering Yemen, including refrigeration units, vehicles, and heavy machinery.

- Over the past years, the Saudi enemy has destroyed cranes and port berths at Al Hudaydah, causing damage that remains difficult to repair. The total damage inflicted on the Red Sea Ports Corporation exceeds US$12 billion.

🗞️ | Khaleel Nasrallah writes:

After the severe Yemeni attack that targeted oil facilities in Jizan and Yanbu, Saudi Arabia did not respond, while Sanaa maintained its reciprocal naval blockade.

What happened appears to have halted a dangerous escalation that could have plunged the region into a much darker conflict.

Miscalculations are always possible, but reason should prevail and push toward a solution with Sanaa.

Washington does not provide protection. Rather, it exploits the resources and capabilities of the region’s states for its own interests and those of Israel. Its condemnations, like those of Arab governments regarding Israeli aggression in Palestine, remain little more than words on paper.

It now appears that the drone attack which Saudi air defenses claimed to have intercepted, alleging it originated from Iraq and was carried out by an “Iran-backed militia,” may in fact have originated from Yemen.

Yemeni military spokesman Brigadier General Yahya Saree announced that Yemeni forces had targeted sensitive crude oil supply and transport infrastructure in eastern Saudi Arabia and Yanbu using drones, in response to Saudi drones violating Yemeni airspace.

The operation was intended to establish a new deterrence equation preventing Saudi drones from operating over Yemen, particularly after Yemeni forces had reportedly shot one of them down.
