Gabriel Edwards, commander of Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 5, known as the “Nightdippers,” died following an accident involving an MH-60S Seahawk helicopter in the Arabian Sea. The helicopter crashed on July 1 during a mission and was forced to make an emergency landing on the water. Three crew members were immediately rescued, but Edwards went missing. Search operations involving several ships, aircraft, and helicopters continued for more than 102 hours across an area of approximately 14,000 square miles before ending on July 5 without locating him.

He might have been involved in commanding the Minab attack, the attack on Imam Khamenei’s residence, and later attacks on Jask.

Reformist led Iranian embassies and their affiliated centers had made considerable efforts to reduce and limit opportunities for mass attendance from different parts of the world. Among the concerns raised were the lack of timely announcements regarding the funeral arrangements, delays or refusals in issuing visas, and the absence of adequate logistical support for foreign participants. These issues have been raised as serious concerns regarding international participation in the funeral ceremonies.

📌 | The individual whose face was covered during Imam Sayyid Ali Khamenei’s funeral ceremonies is not Imam Mujtaba Khamenei.

He is reported to be one of Imam Sayyid Ali Khamenei’s eldest grandsons. Like many members of the Imam’s family, he conceals his identity when attending public gatherings. This practice is not necessarily due to fears of being targeted, but rather to preserve his privacy and avoid public attention and media exposure.

Various accounts speculated that the individual was Imam Mujtaba Khamenei. However, this is incorrect. The video was filmed at the Holy Shrine in Najaf while he was accompanying the coffin of his youngest cousin.

It is reported that he is among the eldest grandsons of the martyred Imam, and that his name is the same as that of the martyred Imam’s father.

It is better not to speculate further or draw unnecessary attention to members of the Imam’s family who have deliberately chosen to remain out of the public eye.
