Tribal leaders and prominent figures from across Iraq have issued a series of statements calling on their members to participate in the funeral ceremonies of Martyred Imam Sayyid Ali Khamenei (r) in Najaf and Karbala.

Among those issuing invitations are Sheikh Munim Jabbar Al Sandouh, chief of the Al-A’ajib tribe in Samawah, who called upon his tribe and the wider Bani Hujaym confederation to attend the funeral, describing it as a demonstration of the loyalty and noble traditions of Iraq’s tribes.

The Arab Bani Lam tribe, the Al Omar tribe, and the Al-Sawa’id tribe have also released statements urging broad participation. In its appeal, the Al-Sawa’id tribe invited its members to gather in Najaf and Karbala, describing attendance as an expression of religious devotion and fidelity to the legacy of the Martyred Imam.

Sheikh Nazim al-Saeedi, head of the Executive Council of the Harakat al-Nujaba, stated that the large public turnout at the funeral would serve as “a resounding slap in the face” to those seeking to undermine or diminish the legacy of the Martyred Imam.

“If we are supposed to implement whatever the Supreme Leader says without question, then there would be no need for any other institution to exist; Parliament and the Supreme Council would become meaningless. The Supreme Leader gives his opinion, and that opinion is reviewed and analyzed by experts; then it comes back, and they either accept it or they do not.”

This is one of the biggest insults ever made by a government official and represents a reduction of the doctrine of Wilayat al-Faqih. The Wali is not there merely to give an opinion. The government is not parallel to the authority of the Wilayah. Rather, the Wali is the supreme authority over everyone and possesses the constitutional authority to dismiss the entire government, including Qalibaf, Araghchi, Pezeshkian, Baqaei, and their mouthpiece Marandi.

The attempt by President Pezeshkian’s Executive Deputy to diminish the status of the Wilayat al-Faqih by equating it with a merely advisory and ceremonial position stems from their resentment and animosity toward the Leadership.

The level of loyalty to the Wilayat demonstrated by the Government of National Unity is so low that it can only be compared to the cabinets of Mehdi Bazargan and Abolhassan Banisadr.

Lt. Gen. Saad Maan, spokesman for the Higher Committee overseeing the funeral of Martyred Leader Sayyid Ali Khamenei (r), stated that initial estimates indicate millions of mourners are expected to participate in the funeral ceremonies.

Speaking at a press conference held at the PMF’s Directorate of Public Information, Maan said the committee has prepared a comprehensive plan to ensure the smooth movement of participants and the efficient management of large crowds.

He added that coordination meetings with all relevant authorities are ongoing and that all institutions are on full alert and fully prepared to ensure the success of the event, reflecting Iraq’s ability to organize major national occasions.

Maan also announced that another press conference will be held on Sunday or Monday to reveal the final arrangements, noting that the operational plan is in its final stages and has been designed with a high degree of flexibility.

He further confirmed that no funeral procession will be held in Baghdad due to time constraints. Instead, the ceremonies will be limited to the provinces of Najaf and Karbala, within a 24-hour timeframe, with the highest levels of organizational and logistical readiness.
