In these days, the Islamic Ummah mourns the loss of its steadfast stronghold and its striving leader, Grand Ayatollah Imam Sayyid Ali al Husseini Khamenei (may God’s mercy be upon him), who devoted his blessed life to defending authentic Islam, supporting the causes of the Muslim Ummah, and standing by Iraq and its faithful people during the darkest circumstances and the most difficult historical moments in the face of global arrogance and terrorism.

In loyalty to this great path of struggle and in reaffirmation of the bonds of faith, unity, and steadfastness, we call upon all segments of the Iraqi people, including religious scholars, seminarians, university professors and students, our honorable tribes, the brave members of the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), the security and armed forces, and all religious, cultural, and social institutions, to actively and widely participate in the historic funeral procession that will be held on the blessed land of Iraq.

The funeral procession of the pure body will begin on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, and will pass through the holy shrines of Imam Ali (A) in Najaf al Ashraf, and Imam Husayn (A) and his brother Abu al Fadl al Abbas (A) in Karbala al Muqaddasa. This decision was made in response to your persistent requests for the funeral procession to be held on the blessed soil of Iraq, expressed through letters, signed petitions, communications, and other appeals.

Your broad participation on this historic day will represent a renewal of allegiance to the blessed institution of Wilayat al Faqih and to the values of dignity, honor, and independence. It will also send a clear message to the forces of oppression and aggression that the banner of truth raised by Imam Khomeini (r), and carried forward by the martyred leader Imam Sayyid Ali al Husseini Khamenei (r), will remain lofty and ever flying under the leadership of his successor, Imam Ayatollah Sayyid Mojtaba al Husseini Khamenei (H), living on in the hearts and hands of all free people.

Let your participation in this magnificent funeral procession reflect your deep insight and affirm that a nation which honors its leaders and its martyrs is a nation that never dies. It is also a response to the words of Almighty God:

“O you who believe! Respond to Allah and to the Messenger when he calls you to that which gives you life.” (Qur’an 8:24)

- 350 journalists from foreign media organizations based in Iran.

- Around 300 foreign media activists and bloggers.

• Officials state that the participation of 14,000 media personnel is the largest and most unprecedented media presence for a single event in the history of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

• The Guardian Council has issued a statement inviting the Iranian nation to participate in the funeral of the martyred Leader, His Eminence Grand Ayatollah Imam Khamenei (r). The statement describes public participation as a manifestation of the Iranian nation's faith, loyalty, and commitment to the path of honor and resistance under his leadership. It further states that the funeral of the martyred Leader of the Ummah will symbolize Iran's strength in the face of the front of arrogance.

• Iran's security chief, Sardaf Zolqadr, declared that those responsible for the assassination of the martyred Leader and the other martyrs will soon face justice. He stated that the clenched fist of the martyred Leader at the moment of his ascension has become an enduring symbol of Iran's national security doctrine. Zolqadr further said that the case of avenging the blood of Imam Khamenei (r) and the other martyrs remains open, and that those who planned and carried out the assassinations will, in due course, face punishment at the hands of the "righteous elements."
