Sacrificing oneself is indeed one of the highest virtues one can attain, and many have followed the man who led this front for decades. But we must not forget the struggle and the reason behind it. Yes, they sacrificed themselves for a cause—not secular, not merely plural—but rooted in a vision of Islam that seeks coexistence with peace.
