We must also remember the first martyr of starvation and thirst in Islamic history: Sayyidah Khadija (A). On the 10th of Ramadan, she passed away while enduring the brutal siege of Shib Abi Talib, where her strength and perseverance were tested. Her martyrdom, marked by starvation and thirst imposed by the enemies of Allah, remains a powerful symbol of sacrifice and resilience. Her example is a reminder to all of us to stand strong against oppression, no matter how difficult the circumstances may be.

(Surah Al-Hajj, 22:58)
In this verse, Allah grants the same reward to those who migrate for His cause and then die—whether through martyrdom or natural death. Sayyidah Khadija (S) was confined in the Shi’b of Abu Talib, enduring extreme hardships and hunger, ultimately passing away as a result of these tribulations; this is also considered martyrdom.
Ultimately, due to the economic blockade imposed by the idolaters during the Shi’b of Abu Talib, her death came as a result of enduring hunger and extreme hardships.
Salams to that lady who sacrificed her wealth for the cause of Allah, who received stones on her body that were thrown towards the Prophet, who got boycotted, faced propaganda, and was assaulted by the enemies.
