• U.S. Air & Space Forces Magazine reported that on the evening of 27 March 2025, Lt. Col. William Parks and Maj. Michael Belia, F-16 pilots from the 480th Fighter Squadron, were returning from a strike mission against Ansarallah missile facilities in Yemen.

• During the return, after seeing a bright flash from the ground, they realized they had entered an air-defense ambush, described as a “SAMbush,” a tactic used by Yemeni forces.

• Relying on ground observers and infrared optics, Yemeni forces kept their radars off and activated them only 15 to 20 seconds before launch, leaving the pilots very little time to react.

• Fifteen minutes of intense danger followed. Parks dove toward the first missile, forcing it to pass under his left wing. Then Belia maneuvered precisely to avoid a second missile that passed less than nine meters from the nose of his F-16.

• Over the next fifteen minutes, six missiles were fired at the two pilots. Through evasive maneuvers, repeated chaff and flare releases, and constant communication, they survived the engagement.

• The high-G maneuvers quickly drained their fuel, bringing them close to running out and possibly ejecting over Yemeni territory. At that moment, a tanker aircraft entered airspace near Yemen despite the danger to refuel them.
