Blood was spilled. We are in mourning. I say clearly, we grieve for the blood that was shed. Some of those killed were themselves corrupt instigators, seditionists, and coup plotters. Some of them met their fate, and their reckoning is with Allah. We do not concern ourselves with them.

However, there were others who were not part of that group. I divide the martyrs and those who lost their lives into three categories:

The first group were the defenders of security and the defenders of the system’s integrity, including police forces, Basij members, IRGC personnel, and those who stood alongside them. They were martyred. These are among the highest-ranking martyrs.

The second group were bystanders. When sedition erupts in a city, it is not only those directly confronting it who are harmed. Innocent people walking in the streets toward their workplaces or homes were also killed. These too are martyrs, because they were killed amid the enemy’s sedition. No matter where the bullet came from, this occurred within the enemy’s unrest, and they are martyrs.

The third group were those who were deceived, who acted naively, who lacked experience, and who joined the seditionists for a few steps. I want to say that they too are ours. They are our children. Some of them repented. Some even wrote to me saying, “We came into the streets that day… forgive us.” They were not even imprisoned; they were free. They regretted their mistake. Those among them who were killed were also recognized by officials as martyrs, and that was the right decision.

Therefore, the circle of those we count as martyrs is broad. Except for the core instigators of sedition, the ringleaders, and those who took money and weapons from the enemy, the rest, whether defenders of security, bystanders, or even those who walked briefly with the seditionists, are our children.

We pray for Allah’s mercy and forgiveness upon them. They made mistakes, and we ask Allah the Almighty to pardon their errors, Insha Allah.
