The IOF has been spreading herbicides and dangerous chemical substances, including toxic industrial agricultural chemicals, across Syria, Lebanon, and Gaza.

Lebanon has accused Israel of committing a “health and environmental crime” after its military sprayed glyphosate, a herbicide classified by the World Health Organization as “probably carcinogenic,” over farmland in southern Lebanon.

President Joseph Aoun condemned the act as a violation of Lebanese sovereignty that threatens food security, soil fertility, and farmers’ livelihoods, vowing to take “all necessary legal and diplomatic measures” in response.

The aerial spraying reportedly took place after warnings were issued to UN peacekeepers to take cover. This act forms part of a broader pattern of ecocide carried out by Israel in the region, echoing its destructive practices in Gaza, the West Bank, and southern Lebanon during previous military campaigns.

Laboratory tests revealed glyphosate concentrations 20 to 30 times higher than normal, levels capable of destroying vegetation, damaging ecosystems, and contaminating water sources and the food chain.

Environmental experts warn that this attack compounds decades of ecological devastation in southern Lebanon, where previous Israeli bombardments involving white phosphorus, incendiary weapons, and cluster munitions killed thousands, displaced more than a million people, and left agricultural land polluted with heavy metals.

Experts say these tactics reflect a continuum of colonial-style warfare, in which Israel systematically targets natural resources to destabilize populations and inflict long-term damage on the environment, livelihoods, and regional food security.

🇮🇷 | Imam Khamenei Posthumously Awards the Rank of Lieutenant General to Sardar Salami (r):

On April 21, 2019, coinciding with mid-Sha’ban of that year, by the decree of Imam Khamenei (H), Martyr Haj Hossein Salami was promoted to the rank of Major General and appointed as Commander-in-Chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

According to Major General Mohammad Pakpour, for six years, the blessed life of the IRGC coincided with the leadership of a committed and knowledgeable commander—one whose extraordinary mastery over various fields of defense and military affairs, combined with deep insight and precise calculations of power, strengthened the Islamic Republic and enhanced its authority against its enemies.

Now, six years later, again in mid-Sha’ban and on the birthday of the 12th Imam (A), by the decree of Imam Khamenei (H), the rank of Lieutenant General and recognition of valor for Martyr Haj Hossein Salami was posthumously awarded to his honored family in the presence of the Commander of the IRGC.
