🏴 | Martyrdom of Imam Ali al-Ridha (A):
We are in the days that coincide with the martyrdom of Imam Ali ibn Musa al-Ridha (A), the eighth divinely appointed Imam of the Ahl al-Bayt (A), born in 148 AH / 765 CE in Medina. His noble mother, Hadhrat Najma (Umm al-Banin), was a righteous woman of non-Arab origin, known for her piety and devotion.
Imam Ali al-Ridha (A) was the eighth Imam in the line of Shia Imams and a direct descendant of Prophet Muhammad (S) through his daughter Fatimah al-Zahra (A) and Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (A). His father was Imam Musa al-Kadhim (A), the seventh Shia Imam, and his mother was Hadhrat Najma, also known as Toktam or Umm al-Banin, a pious woman of non-Arab origin. Imam Ali al-Ridha (A) was married and had children, the most notable being Imam Muhammad al-Jawad (A), the ninth Imam. The full lineage from Prophet Muhammad (S) to Imam Ali al-Ridha (A) is as follows:

Imam Ali al-Ridha (A)
Imam al-Ridha (A) lived during the reigns of Caliph Harun al-Rashid and his son Ma’mun, a cunning Abbasid ruler. Although Ma’mun coerced him to be his successor in a bid to legitimize Abbasid authority, Imam al-Ridha (A) accepted only after placing strict conditions that prevented him from granting real political legitimacy to the regime.
Despite constant political danger and existential threats, Imam al-Ridha (A) turned his presence in the Abbasid court into a platform for intellectual and spiritual resistance. He debated scholars of different faiths including Christians, Jews, atheists, dualists, Hindu thinkers, and extremist sects, always defending the oneness of God (tawhid), the legacy of the Prophet (S), and the moral and spiritual core of Islam.
Among his scholarly works is the Risalat al-Dhahabiyya (The Golden Treatise), a pioneering text on preventive medicine, dictated by him and dedicated to al-Ma’mun. He also narrated thousands of hadiths, provided detailed Qur’anic exegesis, and taught lessons of justice, ethics, and knowledge, preserved by companions like Abd al-Aziz al-Jaludi and Rayyan ibn al-Salt.
In 203 AH / 818 CE, Imam al-Ridha (A) was poisoned by al-Ma’mun and buried in Tus, present-day Mashhad, Iran. His shrine remains a spiritual center of immense significance, drawing millions of pilgrims from around the world.
Lessons from the life of Imam al-Ridha (A):
• True resistance is intellectual, spiritual, and moral, not merely military.
• Compromises under duress must be strategic, never ideological.
• The Ahl al-Bayt (A) are inseparable from the cause of the oppressed and the pursuit of justice.
• Knowledge, eloquence, and steadfastness are stronger than any weapon in defending truth.
• Upholding principles while navigating political traps is an essential example for today’s Muslims.
Peace be upon you, O Proof of Allah and son of His Proof. I bear witness that you established prayer, gave zakat, commanded good, and forbade evil.

🇮🇷 | This morning, Imam Khamenei (H)’s response to a question:
What is the main reason for America’s enmity toward the Iranian nation?
Imam Khamenei (H), this morning at the mourning ceremony for the martyrdom of Imam Reza (A) in the presence of various segments of the people, said: A question arises here. Why is America hostile toward Iran? At first glance, this question seems simple, but it is actually complex.
The answer is important and complex. This enmity is not new. For 45 years, U.S. governments, through various individuals, groups, and parties that have come to power, have maintained the same hostility, the same sanctions, and the same threats toward the Islamic Republic and the dear nation of Iran. What is the reason?
In the past, this reason was concealed under different titles such as terrorism, human rights, women’s issues, democracy, or if it was mentioned, it was expressed politely, saying “we want Iran’s behavior to change.” That was how they spoke in the past.
The current U.S. leader has revealed the matter and clarified the true objective. He said, “Our confrontation with Iran, with the Iranian nation, is so that Iran becomes obedient to the United States.” We, the Iranian nation, must understand this correctly. It is an important matter. Of course, his wording may slightly differ from mine. For example, he may have said “be compliant” or “Iran should obey,” but the meaning is clear.
That is, a government or power in the world has emerged that expects Iran, with its history, its dignity, and its proud nation, to be obedient to it. This is the root cause of the enmity.
