On Thursday night, Yemen’s military court issued a verdict convicting Ahmed Ali Abdullah Saleh, the son of Yemen’s former president Ali Abdullah Saleh, on charges of treason, intelligence cooperation with the enemy, and large-scale corruption, and sentenced him to capital punishment.

Ahmed Ali, who for years commanded the Republican Guard forces under the former regime, was sidelined from power after his father was overthrown during the 2011 popular revolution. According to Al-Akhbar, Saudi Arabia is deeply interfering in all aspects of Lebanese affairs.

Prince Yazid bin Farhan, who has been appointed by the Saudi leadership to oversee the Lebanon file, is said to be meddling in every detail controlling every word spoken, and managing both overt and covert political movements within the country. Sources claim he was the one who pressured for the transfer of the “weapons file” to the Lebanese Council of Ministers and personally insisted to President Michel Aoun on the necessity of making a decision on the issue.
