📕 | Report — The Struggle of Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (A) Against Jewish Influence (1/2):

One of the groups that had a profoundly destructive influence on Islamic culture during the time of Imam al-Baqir (A) were the Jews. A number of Jewish rabbis, some of whom outwardly converted to Islam while others remained in their original faith, spread throughout the Islamic community and assumed positions of scholarly authority among the more naive and gullible segments of society.

These individuals left a lasting impact on Islamic culture through the fabrication and propagation of forged hadiths known as “Isra’iliyat.” These were mostly fabricated reports concerning the lives, ranks, and circumstances of previous prophets. One notable figure who included such narrations in his writings was the famous commentator al-Tabari, who drew extensively—either directly or indirectly—on Jewish sources in his Qur’anic interpretations.

The intellectual activity of Jewish elements within the Islamic scholarly milieu, particularly in jurisprudential and theological matters, became a serious concern. This issue is so well documented in Islamic history that there is no room for doubt or ambiguity regarding its significance.

Confronting Jewish influences and their corruptive insertions into Islamic culture was a major focus in the mission of the Imams of Ahl al-Bayt (A). One of the key cultural efforts of Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (A) was to reject and disprove the fabricated hadiths produced by Jewish elements, especially those that distorted the image and sanctity of the divine prophets.

Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (A) actively sought to sever the corrupt relationship that had formed between some Muslims and Jewish elements, a relationship that had taken a dangerous and misguided path. He aimed to drain this swamp of deviation from within the Islamic society.

One clear example of his struggle against the spread of Isra’iliyat (fabricated Jewish traditions) is narrated by Muhammad ibn Muslim, who said:

“I said to Imam al-Baqir (A): Some of the Jews among us claim that when Allah Almighty says: ‘So ask the people of the reminder (Ahl al-Dhikr), if you do not know’ [Qur’an 16:43], it refers to the Jewish scholars.”

The Imam (A) pointed to his own chest with his blessed hand and replied:

“We are the Ahl al-Dhikr, and we are the ones meant to be asked.”

In another report, Zurarah ibn A’yun recounts:

“One day, while Imam al-Baqir (A) was sitting facing the Kaaba, he said:

‘Looking at the House of God is an act of worship.’

At that moment, a man from the tribe of Bajilah, named Asim ibn ‘Umar, approached the Imam and said:

‘Ka‘b al-Ahbar says that the Kaaba prostrates every morning toward Bayt al-Maqdis (Quds al-muqaddas).’

Imam al-Baqir (A) asked him: ‘What do you think of this statement?’

The man replied: ‘I believe Ka‘b was telling the truth.’

The Imam (A) responded firmly: ‘You and Ka‘b al-Ahbar are both lying.’
Then, in visible anger, he added:

‘Allah has not created any place on earth more beloved than the Kaaba.’”

This was part of a covert organizational strategy, a discreet but deliberate effort that had begun even before Imam al-Baqir (A), but reached a new intensity during his leadership. It was later perfected under Imams Ja‘far al-Sadiq (A) and Musa al-Kazim (A).

This explains why, in various narrations, some companions of Imam al-Baqir (A) are identified as “Ashab al-Sirr” (Keepers of the Secret)—figures like Jabir ibn Yazid al-Ju‘fi, who played a critical role in the underground dissemination of the Imam’s spiritual and political program.

The Role of the Jews in the Martyrdom of Imam al-Sajjad and Imam al-Baqir (A):

Imam Zayn al-Abidin (A) and Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (A) were also martyred by poison administered by the descendants of Marwan ibn al-Hakam, who had Jewish lineage. Regarding the martyrdom of Imam Zayn al-Abidin (A), it is mentioned in Muntaha al-Amal, Volume 2, page 62:

“Reliable reports, generally accepted, indicate that the Imam was martyred by poison. Ibn Babawayh and a group of scholars believe that it was al-Walid ibn Abd al-Malik who poisoned the Imam, while others say it was Hisham ibn Abd al-Malik. It is possible that Hisham ordered his brother al-Walid—who was the Caliph at the time—to poison the Imam. Therefore, both may be considered responsible, and attributing the martyrdom to either is correct.”

Regarding the martyrdom of Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (A), the same source states:

“It has been said that the Imam was martyred by poison given by Ibrahim ibn al-Walid ibn Abd al-Malik ibn Marwan, and this may have been carried out under the order of Hisham.”

✅ | There are some suspicions surrounding the recent rocket launches from the Syrian side. A number of Israeli military vehicles stormed the Jazeera point near the village of Maaria in the Yarmouk Basin area, located in the western countryside of Daraa.

The group that claimed responsibility for the rockets is calling itself the “Mohammed Deif Brigades.” A review of its Telegram page shows that it was launched on April 31, 2025, just a few days ago. In their statement, they claimed to be operating from the heart of occupied Palestine, yet their first operation was carried out three days later from southern Syria.

There is something vague here, and something suspicious. We must take a moment to assess the consequences carefully. Perhaps the full picture will become clearer with time.

One possibility is that this was launched by Syrian resistance, and it is a substantive resistance response intended to fight against the annexation and land grabs by Israel in Syrian territory.

Other reports suggest it may actually be “Uli al-Bas,” an active Syrian resistance force aligned with the Axis of Islamic Resistance. Meanwhile, Israelis appear to be using this as a pretext to target their own Zionist proxy, Julani. They’ve also entered Daraa, which raises the possibility of a coordinated plan to target and massacre Shia communities in Daraa. This may have occurred with the cooperation of both HTS and Israeli forces.

Time will expose the reality.
