The Refugee Affairs Department of the Popular Front calls on UNRWA to assume its responsibilities towards our people away from interfering in matters that do not concern it.
The Refugee Affairs Department of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine called on the UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) to assume its responsibilities towards the relief of our people affected and displaced by the aggression, away from interfering in issues that do not concern it and we do not allow interference in.
The department affirmed that UNRWA's administration has abandoned its responsibilities since day one of the aggression, succumbed to the threats of the occupation, moved its operations center from Gaza City to the south, and left behind thousands of citizens groaning under the bombing and hunger, in a dangerous alignment with the occupation's displacement plans. Despite all this, in the last hours, it appointed itself as an international guardianship over our people, by sending general messages to our people, through which this propaganda pretended that it can atone for the serious mistakes it has made since the beginning of the aggression.
The department clarified that what is required from the United Nations institutions and the Relief and Works Agency is the actual cessation of aggression and the provision of our people's needs in the shelter centers who are suffering under the weight of the aggression, which would alleviate their suffering, not to issue futile instructions that are not their responsibility. Most importantly, it is necessary for it to make a decision to return to its operations center in Gaza City, to fully assume its responsibilities required in relieving our people across the regions of the Strip and not only in the south.
The department called on the international community, especially the United Nations institutions, to continue to pressure for stopping the aggression and breaking the siege imposed on the Strip first, with the importance of opening crossings and introducing relief aid into the Strip, noting that the international institutions bear to a large extent the responsibility for the ongoing zionist holocaust against our people in the Strip, which is taking place with the green light from this complicit or negligent international community.
The department concluded its statement by affirming that our people will not forget and will not forgive UNRWA for what it has done, its escape from its responsibilities, and leaving our people prey to bombing and hunger, especially in the Northern Gaza governorates.
