Every year, Muslims around the world mourn and commemorate Ashura to keep the cause of Imam Husayn (A) alive in their hearts. It is not just grief, but a reaffirmation of our commitment to justice. If remembering the Prophet’s grandson and lamenting his suffering was wrong, then why did the heavens themselves weep for him? Authentic reports (even from Sunni sources) tell us that when Imam Husayn (A) was martyred, the sky rained blood, and the angels wept for him.

Even before Karbala, the Holy Prophet (S) openly grieved for his beloved grandson. Numerous narrations mention that when the Prophet (S) was informed by Jibra’il (A) of the tragic fate of Imam Husayn (A), he wept profusely. He held the soil of Karbala in his hands and cried, knowing that his beloved grandson would be slaughtered upon it. Likewise, Imam Ali (A), while passing through Karbala on his way to Siffin, stopped and shed tears, declaring that it was the very land where his son would be martyred. When such noble figures wept for Imam Husayn (A), how can it be condemned today?

Even the Jinns mourned the martyrdom of Imam Husayn (A). It is narrated that after his martyrdom, Umm Salamah (R) heard the Jinns lamenting for him. The tears of the lovers of Ahlul Bayt (A) are not mere sorrow; they are a pledge, a declaration that the message of Karbala will never die. The Prophet (S) himself wept for his grandson, and those who continue to do so today follow in his footsteps. Those who mock these tears, like Julani, are merely the inheritors of Yazid’s legacy—blind to the truth and fearful of the unwavering spirit of Karbala.
