In a heroic operation carried out by the heroes of the Syrian Popular Resistance this afternoon in the Jableh countryside, our forces successfully executed a well-planned ambush targeting a militant group affiliated with the terrorist organization Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham. This group was on its way to commit brutal acts against our defenseless civilians for vile sectarian reasons. The operation resulted in the killing of two militants and the capture of seven others. This action comes as part of our sacred duty to defend our land and people from the takfiri terrorism that seeks to destroy our homeland and rob it of its security and stability.
Despite our constant commitment to humanitarian principles and engagement in negotiations with the terrorist organization through a mediator for the safe handover of the captives, we were subjected to a cowardly betrayal and treachery, reflecting the criminal nature of this terrorist group. After we handed over the captives and upheld the safe withdrawal agreement, the terrorist gangs of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham launched a treacherous attack against our resistance fighters. As a result, one of our most prominent commanders, the heroic Mujahid Bassam Hussam al-Din, was martyred while courageously confronting their cowardly assault. Additionally, communication was lost with one of our media and field correspondents later in the evening, and we consider him a heroic martyr engaged in the battle on the ground.
We, in the Syrian Popular Resistance, affirm that this cowardly betrayal will not go unpunished. The blood of our martyrs across Syria will be a fire that burns the enemies of the homeland and humanity. We pledge to make these terrorists pay a heavy price. There will be no safe place for them on this land, and they will soon face the wrath that will erupt against them.
We strongly condemn the disgraceful stance of the United Nations, which has implicitly provided cover for this betrayal through its silence and failure to ensure the respect of agreements. We hold the United Nations fully responsible for this cowardly treachery and accuse it of continuous negligence regarding the suffering of our people, which emboldens criminals to continue their atrocities.
We also question the fate of Sheikh Saleh Mansour, who was forcibly disappeared shortly after these events, and we warn the terrorist gangs against harming or mistreating him. Furthermore, we affirm that those detained by the terrorist groups are defenseless civilians and not members of the Syrian Popular Resistance, refuting the lies claiming our fighters were among the captives.
We have repeatedly called on the international community to assume its moral and legal responsibilities regarding the suffering of our people from killings and brutality at the hands of these terrorist organizations. Yet, we have encountered nothing but absolute silence and complicity, which only deepens the suffering of our people and emboldens criminals to continue their atrocities.
We send a clear warning to these murderers and their supporters: The response is coming, and it will be harsher than you can imagine. You will face nothing but the flames of the resistance, which will burn anyone who dares to violate the dignity of our people and our land.
