Old Lessons, New Syria

We must acknowledge the fact that the Syrian government under President Assad was courageous in facing the forces of global arrogance and was a strategic ally of the Islamic Resistance in Lebanon as well as the Resistance Axis at large. This does not change the reality that the collapse of the Syrian government was a natural outcome of other factors such as structural fragility, political failure, a decades-long West-backed conspiracy that peaked in 2011 and a paralyzed economy due to the 2019 Caesar sanctions. There is no question that a Syrian opposition disappointed with the leadership and government corruption exists, as do terrorist mercenaries from numerous countries. But to approach the case of Syria from that lens is foolish and dishonest for obvious reasons which only the hypocrites of the Ummah deny. The primary enemies of a pro-Resistance Syria are the U.S and the Zionist entity which, especially in the current phase, are seeking to contain the Islamic Resistance in Lebanon and isolate the Islamic Republic of Iran. This is why the Zionist entity will be the chief player looking to exploit a destabilized Syria. The new Syria will have to emerge in light of several considerations. Different domestic groups are not only looking for a 'piece of the pie' and advocating for their respective systems of government. But moreover, these groups have different loyalties to foreign powers - regional and beyond. These foreign powers in turn have political, security, economic, developmental, and ideological interests that integrate into balances of power which must be maintained. For example, Saudi and other Gulf states will not be pleased with Turkey establishing control in Syria and attempting to assume leadership of the Sunni world. But could Turkey use this transformation to build in parallel with Iran and push the new Syria in a tolerable direction as it pertains to the Zionist entity? The fact that the cities were handed over within a week means this was a political transition first and foremost based on a comprehensive settlement. In addition to Turkey and Iran's role in the new Syria, the next phase and the trajectory of the region will depend on Saudi's attitude towards Iran, Hezb's status in Lebanon, and the nature of the loading clash between Iran and the Zionist entity. This piece is already too long thus far, so I will end with the following: the Islamic Resistance made unmatched sacrifices for the Palestinian cause and the Ummah in general. The Ummah which betrayed Palestine and adhered to its kings and rulers is dishonored forever. The Resistance will be fine so long as it worships God and not America or its own worldly interests. Yes, there are lessons to learn regarding the rights of righteous leadership, the value of wilayat al-faqih, the importance of emigration (hijrah), the sensitivity of elections and its overall impact on Islamic forces, etc. But there is no need for panic. Many may even be shocked to know who 'played' who actually. But that is something time alone will explain. Lack of trust in God and the upright leadership of the Resistance is something the enemies of humanity count on, and the challenges of history are merciless towards the victims of the leaderlessness crisis.
