The Price of Shi'ism

Many Shi'a are unaware of the persecution faced by this virtuous sect since the time of the Imams (a). Some have read enough to understand that this was due to their rejection of illegitimate authorities. But what has become clear in this war is far deeper, partly due to the historical stage and the technology at the fingertips of the enemy. The price of Shi'ism - not in the loose sense of the term, but in what it actually means and entails as far as beliefs and adherence to righteous leadership particularly - is beyond what books can articulate or stories can narrate. Respectfully but honestly, I am convinced many people have not fathomed what is currently taking place here. This is not an ordinary war. There is not a single corner in Lebanon where the Shi'a are safe from the surveillance and targeting of the forces of evil. They are being massacred with their parents, wives, siblings and children wherever they move. Even those who are not militant are being traced and targeted here for belonging to a community. This is the real-life manifestation of the narrations which told us 'a time will come in which patiently holding onto faith will be like holding onto ember', as in Al-Amali of Sheikh al-Tusi; narrations which told us 'if a mountain loved Ameer al-Mu'mineen (a) it would have collapsed', as in Nahj al-Balaghah; narrations which told us their (a) Shi'a were 'killed in every town, and their hands and legs were butchered upon the mere thought' that they were Shi'a, as in Bi'har al-Anwar. The lesson of these narrations as well as others - such as those which discuss the religious status of taqiyyah - has now become simple: Shi'ism in the truest and most particular sense is irreconcilable with safety and leisure. It is undetachable from jeopardy and sacrifice; it is never free of the enemy's conspiracy. And if my family and I are also killed in this war, I ask God Almighty that it be for this cause and reason: that we stubbornly opposed and rejected every illegitimate authority before the reappearance of the Imam of the time (aj). There is no greater honor or better correction for my damaged self. I say no more than Du'a al-Iftita'h: "O' Allah, we complain to You of the departure of our Prophet (s), the absence of our Leader (aj), the numerousness of our enemy, the paucity of our number, the intensity of tribulations upon us, and vicissitudes of time against us. So, send blessings upon Mu'hammad and his progeny, and help us overcome that with a divine victory which You hasten, harm which You relieve, triumph which You empower, and a rule of truth which You manifest"..

— These days coincide with the fortieth day after the martyrdom of the great and tireless Mujahid of our time, the late Sayyid Hasan Nasrallah (may Allah be pleased with him, elevate his status, and grant him great reward). We honor his memory, along with that of Martyr Haniyeh, Martyr Safi al-Din, Martyr Yahya al-Sinwar, Martyr Nilforushan, and the other martyrs of the resistance.”

— We also honor the martyrs of this assembly, Martyr Sayyid Raisi (may Allah be pleased with him) and Martyr Sayyid Aaale Hashim (may Allah be pleased with him). We pray for the highest divine ranks for all these honorable martyrs.

— The late Sayyid Nasrallah and these dear martyrs of our time gave honor to Islam with true justice. They brought honor and doubled strength and power to the resistance front.

— Our dear Sayyid has ascended to the high ranks of the martyrs and attained what he longed for. Yet, he has left behind an enduring legacy in Hezbollah.

— Through Sayyid’s courage, wisdom, patience, and remarkable trust in Allah, Hezbollah has grown—tremendously so. It has truly become an organization that even a well-equipped enemy, armed with every material, propaganda, and media weapon, has not been able to overcome, and, God willing, will not be able to.

— Hezbollah has achieved a remarkable progression over the years, nearly 40 years, forcing the Zionist regime to retreat from Beirut, Sidon, Tyre, and finally, liberating all of southern Lebanon from its presence.

— Hezbollah grew from a small group of Mujahideen into a powerful organization capable of resisting a heavily armed enemy that draws strength from corrupt global powers. It has repeatedly compelled this enemy to retreat. We have witnessed this experience firsthand.

— The Palestinian resistance has experienced similar victories, confronting the Zionist regime nine times since 2009 and emerging victorious in every encounter. Despite the Zionist regime’s attempts to eliminate Hamas, it has failed. This regime’s actions have exposed its true face to the world and left it isolated, while Hamas continues to resist—proof of the regime’s defeat.

— The same is true for Hezbollah. Some voices in Lebanon and elsewhere mistakenly believe Hezbollah has weakened, but they are deluded. Hezbollah remains strong and continues its fight.

— Yes, prominent figures like Sayyid Hasan Nasrallah and Sayyid Hashem Safi al-Din may no longer be present, but the organization endures with its spirit and spiritual strength, and, God willing, it will remain undefeatable. One day, the world and region will witness the clear defeat of the Zionist regime at the hands of these Mujahideen, inshallah.

— Today, the Palestinian resistance has prevailed over the Zionist regime, despite what a superficial view might suggest. The regime aimed to uproot Hamas but has failed. In doing so, it has massacred countless people, revealed its ugly face to the world, proven its cruelty, condemned itself, and isolated itself. Thinking it could eliminate the resistance by targeting Hamas leaders, the regime assumed Hamas would end. Yet, Hamas continues to fight. This signifies the Zionist regime’s defeat.
