The Paradox of Invoking the International Community

The official count yesterday was that in the last 24 hours, 60 people have been martyred and 168 have been wounded here in Lebanon. That makes it [a minimum of] 2,299 killed and 10,380 wounded by Zionist attacks on Lebanon thus far. The Zionist entity is massacring Lebanese civilians, killing soldiers from the Lebanese Army, firing even at UN 'peacekeepers', and the only position taken by the Lebanese government as emphasized by PM Najib Mikati is to call upon the international community to impose an immediate ceasefire. What is the paradox here? Well, those afraid of war with the Zionist entity invoke the international community for help. But the reason they are afraid of the Zionist entity is they know it does not submit to the rules-based order. This makes seeking safety from the international community not only cowardly, but stupid. It is time for the Lebanese government to understand that the international community which looked the other way during the genocide in Palestine is not 'neutral' and its rescue should not be awaited here in Lebanon. Instead, we must embrace the blessing of having unprecedented clarity on the situation. Today, the foreign observer and local defeatist both know deep down: armed resistance is the only way forward..
