⚡️ $36 Billion in Losses, €13 Billion in Illegal Market Profits, and Record Taxes: How Much iGaming Makes and Loses

In this week's roundup — fresh gambling revenue figures, regulatory changes, and metrics that show the scale of the legal and illegal markets.

📌Counting the Money
— Gambling tax revenues in Singapore reached $2.84 billion in the financial year. The figure increased by 11.9% year over year.
— Australian players spent $36 billion on gambling in the 2025–2026 financial year — $1.2 billion more than the previous year.
— In France, the total tax burden on online betting reaches 59.3% of GGR: 33.7% goes to the fiscal levy, 15% to the social levy, and 10.6% to the sports levy. This is the highest rate among European markets.
— In Brazil, operators have received fines totaling $3.5 million since 2025.

— Brazil Suspends 14 Licensed Betting Sites for Violating SPA Requirements

— 88% of all online bettors in the US in July 2026 were Gen Z and millennials. On average, players lose 25 cents for every dollar transferred to a bookmaker.
— Net profits in the illegal gambling sector in the EU could reach €13 billion in 2026.
— Already 35% of payments on illegal sites are made using cryptocurrency. By 2030, the share could rise to 70%.

— In Armenia, authorities will begin blocking illegal gambling websites through internet service providers starting in February 2027.
— In Russia, 717 applications for self-exclusion from gambling were submitted through multifunctional centers during the first week of September. The statistics do not include applications submitted through Gosuslugi.
— Starting in October 2026, Cambodia will temporarily suspend live games at all of its gambling venues.
