β¦Antiretroviral Therapy (ART) involves using combination of drugs πdaily that suppress the replication of the virus inside the body. Antiretoviral Therapy is given to someone who has the virus π¦ , it will aid to extend the life of patient. β€
β¦Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP)π« involves taking one or more antiretoviral drugsπ routinely to prevent HIV infection in people at high risk of exposure. It has shown that PrEP is very effective in reducing the risk of getting HIV from sex by 99%. π€―
β¦Post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) involves using antiretroviral medicines πwithin 72 hours π of exposure to HIV to prevent infection. It is not meant for regular use by people who may be exposed to HIV𧬠frequently, instead its a treatment that should be used only for emergency situations. π©ΊIt is importantβ¨to take all the doses as prescribed to give PEP the best chance of working.
