As we close this year’s 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, we reflect on conversations, actions, and voices raised around this year’s theme: ending online harassment. Because violence has evolved—and today, it exists both offline and behind screens.

Through advocacy, awareness, and solidarity, SCORA reaffirmed its commitment to safer digital spaces, respect, accountability, and dignity for all. The 16 days may have ended, but the responsibility to speak up, protect, and act continues every day.

Priority registration is now reserved ONLY for EMSA-AA members. We urge all non-vaccinated students to utilize this opportunity to secure protection before their upcoming clinical rotations.

Core Campaign Benefits:

🍊Professional Safety: Hepatitis B is highly infectious (10x more so than HIV). Vaccination is the most effective defense against exposure to bodily fluids in clinical settings.

Our November exchange student - Alessandra🇮🇹 - began her shadowing and observership on the research - Prevalence and predictive factors of malnutrition in children with Patent Ductus Arteriosus and short term post operative nutritional outcomes at TASH by Dr. Bereket Legesse,  Chief resident at the department of Pediatrics and Child health. She learned the basics of research and got to participate in the data collection process for the remainder of her stay here.

🦠 MEASLES: KNOW THE FACTS

Measles is a highly contagious, acute viral illness caused by the measles virus (Paramyxoviridae family).

🔴 How it spreads

•Through coughing, sneezing, breathing
•Virus can stay in the air or on surfaces for up to 2 hours

🔴 Common symptoms

• High fever
• Cough & runny nose
• Red, watery eyes
• Rash starting on the face and spreading downwards

⚠️ Measles can lead to serious complications such as:

• Pneumonia
• Severe diarrhea
• Ear infections
• Encephalitis (brain swelling)
• Death especially in children under 5

👶 Who is most at risk?

• Unvaccinated children
• Pregnant women
• People with weakened immunity

✔ Two doses 💉 of the measles vaccine provide ~99% lifelong protection
✔ High vaccination coverage (≥95%) is essential to prevent outbreaks
✔Vitamin A supplementation reduces severity and mortality in infected children
