π Today is World AIDS Day ποΈ
Since 1988, communities have stood together on World AIDS Day to show strength and solidarity against HIV stigma and to remember lives lost.
π This year's theme is "Overcoming disruption, transforming the AIDS response", calling for sustained political leadership, international cooperation, and human-rights-centred approaches to end AIDS by 2030.
We honor the resilience of those living with the virus, and we pay tribute to the lives lost.
ποΈSCOPH-AA is preparing a special series of posts to mark this important day in our public health calendar to help break the stigma and spread awareness.
β¨The fight is not over, and awareness is our first powerful tool.

π’ Gender-Based Violence is a Public Health Emergency! π¨
According to the World Health Organization, violence against women remains devastatingly pervasive with about 1 in 3 women has been subjected to physical and/or sexual violence in their lifetime.
This is not just a violation of human rights; it is a critical public health crisis.
The public health dimensions of GBV are clear:
β’Leads to injuries, unwanted pregnancies, induced abortions, STIs (including HIV), and maternal health complications.
β’ Increases risks of depression, PTSD, anxiety, sleep disorders, and suicide.
β’ Contributes to chronic conditions and affects health and development, perpetuating intergenerational cycles of violence.
Together, letβs build health systems that heal, protect, and empower!
β¨A Healthy society is one free from violence.

Today, our SCORA AA team successfully completed the second phase of our Pad Distribution Project at the One-Stop Center, Gandhi Memorial Hospital.
We delivered the collected sanitary pads, purchased pad packs, and donated clothes to support survivors of sexual violence who receive psychological, medical, and legal services at the center.
The One-Stop Center plays a vital role in caring for girls and boys affected by sexual abuse, and they are continuously in need of pads, clothes, and detergents. By sharing this, we aim to raise awareness and encourage others to support their essential work.
This activity is proudly part of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed, all student donors, and Dr. Ismail, the coordinator of the One-Stop Center at Gandhi branch, for welcoming us and guiding the visit.
Together, we continue to advocate, support, and stand for SRHR and GBV prevention.

16 Days of Activism β and the message continuesπ
As we close this yearβs 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, we reflect on conversations, actions, and voices raised around this yearβs theme: ending online harassment. Because violence has evolvedβand today, it exists both offline and behind screens.
Through advocacy, awareness, and solidarity, SCORA reaffirmed its commitment to safer digital spaces, respect, accountability, and dignity for all. The 16 days may have ended, but the responsibility to speak up, protect, and act continues every day.
