We are thrilled to announce the successful completion of our intensive 4-week Life Skills Training program for second-year students at Addis Ababa University (AAU)!
In a powerful collaboration with the YeBen Endowment Fund, SCOPH-AA designed this comprehensive training to foster holistic personal development and equip students with essential skills for navigating their academic and personal lives effectively.
The program focused on four critical pillars crucial for student well-being and success:
❤️ Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH): Promoting informed decision-making and responsible health practices.
🧠 Mental Health Awareness: Destigmatizing conversations and providing coping mechanisms for stress and academic pressure.
🚫 Substance Abuse Prevention: Educating on risks and fostering resilience against harmful habits.
✨ Self-Care Strategies: Highlighting the importance of personal well-being, balance, and establishing healthy routines.
This initiative wasn't just a series of lectures—it was an insightful, interactive, and transformative experience aimed at providing these deserving students with the much-needed practical and emotional toolkit to thrive in today's dynamic world. ✨Know the Facts • Stop the Spread
🔍What is it?
Marburg Virus Disease is a severe viral hemorrhagic fever from the same family as Ebola. It's a high-consequence infectious disease with serious public health implications.
📃 Key Facts:
•Family: Filoviridae (like Ebola)
•Fatality Rate: ☠️ 24-88% in past outbreaks
•Origin: Egyptian fruit bats
•Transmission: Direct contact with infected body fluids
•Status:⚠️ NO approved vaccine or specific treatment
🩺Clinical Picture:
· Sudden high fever & severe headache
· Muscle pain & malaise
· GI symptoms (diarrhea, vomiting, pain)
· Hemorrhagic manifestations
· Multi-organ failure in severe cases
⚠️ Critical Reminder:
Treatment is supportive- focusing on fluid resuscitation, electrolyte balance, and symptom management.
Strict infection prevention control is NON-NEGOTIABLE.

🧐She was introduced and oriented about our campus and country in the first days of her arrival. 🌍Then slowly got acquainted to our culture, language and way of life🇪🇹🌼.
✨She joined surgery classes and bed sides the first few days before she got to work on the research exchange she came here for🔜.
