Licensing Authorities in the UAE (United Arab Emirates): 🇦🇪

•  DHA (Dubai Health Authority): Regulates healthcare professionals in Dubai. 🏙
•  DOH (Department of Health): Regulates healthcare professionals in Abu Dhabi. 🇦🇪
•  MOHAP (Ministry of Health and Prevention): Regulates healthcare professionals in the other Emirates (Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah). 🏥

Key Takeaway: Determine where you want to work! This dictates which licensing authority you'll deal with. 🎯

II. General Requirements for All Licensing Authorities: 📝

•  Primary Medical Qualification: Recognized medical degree from a medical school listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools. TASH qualifys here 📚
•  Internship Completion: Completion of an internship program. 🧑‍⚕️
•  Good Standing Certificate: Certificate of good standing/registration from a regulatory body. ✅
•  Work Experience: ⚠️ A minimum of 2 years as a GP! ⏳

•  English Language Proficiency: IELTS or OET with minimum scores as specified by the licensing authority. 🗣
•  Passport and Visa: Valid passport and UAE visa (once you secure a job offer). 🛂

Detailed Breakdown of DHA Licensing for GPs: 🩺

•  Requires a basic medical degree and completion of an internship. Note: It's becoming increasingly competitive to get a DHA GP license without substantial experience! ⚠️

DHA Licensing Process (Simplified)✅

  1. Self-Assessment: Use the DHA's online eligibility tool to determine if you meet the basic requirements. 🔎

  2. Primary Source Verification (PSV): Submit credentials (degree, transcripts, certificates) to Dataflow for verification. This is a mandatory step! 💯
    *  Dataflow Fees: Around AED 1,000-3,000 (USD 275-820), depending on the number of documents verified. 💸
  3. DHA Exam Application: Apply for the DHA exam once your Dataflow PSV is complete. ✍️
  4. DHA Exam Booking: Schedule your exam at a Prometric center. 🗓

   *  Exam Fees (approximate): Around AED 1,260-1,470 (USD 345-400), but this can vary from year to year. 💰

  5. Pass the DHA Exam: Achieve the required passing score! 🎉

  Huntington's Disease (HD), a devastating inherited neurodegenerative condition caused by a specific genetic mutation, tragically leads to severe motor dysfunction, cognitive decline, and debilitating psychiatric symptoms.
Until now, there's been no cure or effective disease-altering treatment. 💔

But now, for the first time, this disease has been successfully targeted with gene therapy! 🎉
  A single, one-time gene therapy treatment has shown the potential to markedly slow the disease's progression, potentially becoming the first-ever treatment to truly alter the course of this rare brain disorder. ✨

A small trial of 29 individuals in early-stage decline, participants receiving a high dose of the therapy  witnessed the disease's progression slow by an incredible 75%.

This is a monumental step forward, offering immense hope for those affected by Huntington's Disease!  🌟
