He will walk us through the the reality of medical research, starting from the basics on how we as students can start our research journey. He will also share his journey in medicine and how to balance becoming a clinician and a researcher at the same time.

The sessions are for all medical students. You are welcome to attend.

Glaucoma is a common eye condition that occurs when the optic nerve—which connects the eye to the brain—becomes damaged due to increased eye pressure.

💡 Key Facts:

🔹 Caused by fluid buildup in the eye, leading to high pressure.
🔹 Can result in permanent vision loss if not detected early.
🔹 Most common in adults aged 70-80, but can affect all ages.
🔹 Often has no symptoms in the early stages—regular eye tests are the only way to detect it!

🚨 Glaucoma: The Silent Thief of Sight 👁️

Glaucoma usually has no early symptoms and develops slowly over years, affecting peripheral vision first.

This is why many people don’t realize they have it until it's detected during a routine eye exam.

🔍 Possible symptoms (if they appear):

✅ Blurred vision
✅ Seeing rainbow-colored circles around lights
✅ Gradual loss of side vision

⚠️ In rare cases, glaucoma can develop suddenly, causing:

🚨 Intense eye pain
🤢 Nausea & vomiting
🔴 Red eye & headache
👓 Blurred vision with halos around lights

Both eyes are usually affected, but one eye may be worse.
