Greetings,

βœ…April is autism awareness month. As SCOPH-AA, we wanted to use this opportunity to deliver some key message about autism. Please do give us a minute of your day to read this.

🧑Today, 1 in every 54 children is diagnosed with autism. Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a complex developmental condition that affects communication and behavior.

🧑 We need to work together to raise awareness and understanding of autism and reduce the stigma associated with the condition.

🧑 Autism awareness is crucial because it aids early detection and intervention. Early detection of autism can make a significant difference in children's lives as they receive timely intervention and treatment. Typically, children with Autism are diagnosed between 2-4 years old- even later on our setup. But with heightened awarness, parents and caregivers could recognize the signs earlier than that. Once identified interventions like, speech therapy, occupational therapy, and applied behavior analysis (ABA) can improve their communication skills, relieve anxiety, and manage behaviors. Thus, learning and understanding the early signs of autism wouldn't only benefit the child alone, but also have societal impact.

🧑 It’s important to remember that people with autism are just like everyone else. They have their own unique personalities and strengths. With the right support and understanding, people with autism can go on to reach their full potential.

🧑 Let’s work together to make sure that everyone has access to the support and help they need. Together, we can create a society that is inclusive and accepting of everyone, no matter their condition.

Application callout for EMSA-Ethiopia 8th General Assembly Plenary team and CCC

EMSA-Ethiopia has had a long history rooted in a democratic process where its local chapters during the General Assembly have the highest decision making authority. The general assembly through plenary sessions passes decisions that govern and guide all officials and local chapters throughout the term(s).

A Plenary Session (or plenary) is the part of a general meeting that everyone attends. It is where the assembly opens and closes, where major statements are made and broad-ranging debate may be conducted, and where all decisions by the assembly are passed. It’s a platform to celebrate the democratic values of the association and ensure the sustainability and functionality of our beloved association.

The sophisticated decision-making processes of EMSA – Ethiopia always require a dedicated team to guide officials and LCs through the process and make sure everything is in order. Hence the need for the plenary team, a group of dedicated and motivated individuals who will be guiding, assisting, and coordinating all involved individuals attending the plenaries.

If you are passionate about making our decision-making process just and fair, about making sure every voice is heard, and making sure everything is in order- then you are invited to apply for the 8th EMSA – Ethiopia General Assembly Plenary Team.
