The other day, I got an interesting update from Ollama’s official newsletter: they’ve released an API for building agents that can search the web.
Sure, you could already do that in plenty of ways before, but none of them were really designed for AI agents.
Loved it.
I jumped over to their blog to learn more. Looked cool and simple to use! There was just one problem: all their examples were in Python and JavaScript.
Nope. Not under my sight! :-)
So I took the task to not only build a solid example with LangChain4j and Quarkus, but also to add some context on why accessing public data on the internet matters, especially when we’re dealing with a pretrained model’s “knowledge cutoff.”
