Coursebooks are full of pictures, big and small. Sometimes, they illustrate a topic or text, sometimes they are used for language presentation and practice. Sarah Ellis - Simple ways to make learning English fun
Starting English early is an important step towards developing students’ confidence and building their language skills. The Pre-A1 Starters, A1 Movers & A2 Flyers tests are designed by the Cambridge Assessment experts to create a solid foundation for successful language learning. They are motivating and rewarding for learners, teachers & parents, as they set clear goals, confirm progress and focus on success.

This session will look at ideas, resources and digital tools that support young students to enjoy their learning journey and become confident users of English.

Herbert Puchta - Encouraging Thinking Outside the Box: Developing Creativity in Primary Children
Creativity is considered one of the most important human qualities, and it is certainly worth developing in children. Discover how micro-creativity and ‘small steps – fast pace’ activities can unlock learners’ creative potential and guide them towards risk-taking with confidence. Explore creative problem-solving, in line with Einstein’s famous dictum that ‘creativity is intelligence having fun’.

This session will share practical ways of developing children’s sense of ownership of their creative production, thus fostering their self-esteem.

Kate Brierton - The wellbeing of educators: learning the skills of self-compassion
As an educator, looking after your own wellbeing is paramount to the success of your school. The strains of teaching can be considerable in the current high performance, high stakes education system and yet this is rarely acknowledged or supported. Teaching also involves emotional labour – balancing the emotions and needs of students with your own emotions and needs – which can cause mental strain.

This interactive talk discusses the emotional regulation systems of the mind and explains how cultivating a compassionate mind can help to support wellbeing and prevent burnout. The audience will have the opportunity to take part in some exercises designed to balance the mind.

Brain breaks are especially useful at the lessons with young learners. When their brain gets tired, it becomes difficult for them to process information. So when working with children it's worth doing brain breaks every 25-30 minutes after the start of the lesson (with children under 7, even every 15 minutes). 3-5 minutes is the perfect time for such exercises. Brain breaks mainly involve physical activities that can also be used for educational purposes.
