This collection of cards π is a must for an English teacher π€. Use them as a warm-up, a filler or a time killer. Here are a few ideas:
π Put students in pairs. Give out the flashcards. Student A reads the interesting fact silently then retells it to student B.
π Students mingle around the classroom telling each other the facts on their cards. They have to talk to at least three people.
π Students work in pairs. Student A reads the fact to student B several times. Student B should listen and reconstruct the text.
π Put the cards in a box. Ask a student to choose a card and read the fact changing or without changing the information. The class have to guess if the statement is true or false.

Kate Brierton - The wellbeing of educators: learning the skills of self-compassion
As an educator, looking after your own wellbeing is paramount to the success of your school. The strains of teaching can be considerable in the current high performance, high stakes education system and yet this is rarely acknowledged or supported. Teaching also involves emotional labour β balancing the emotions and needs of students with your own emotions and needs β which can cause mental strain.
This interactive talk discusses the emotional regulation systems of the mind and explains how cultivating a compassionate mind can help to support wellbeing and prevent burnout. The audience will have the opportunity to take part in some exercises designed to balance the mind.

Brain breaks are especially useful at the lessons with young learners. When their brain gets tired, it becomes difficult for them to process information. So when working with children it's worth doing brain breaks every 25-30 minutes after the start of the lesson (with children under 7, even every 15 minutes). 3-5 minutes is the perfect time for such exercises. Brain breaks mainly involve physical activities that can also be used for educational purposes.
