Here's the activity I promised to share yesterday.
I decided that it is better to have my students learn phrases rather than individual words as it will help them construct correct sentences and develop their speaking skills. The activity I am going to do is called β€œPost-it Hunt”.
How to play:
1. Familiarize your students with the following phrases taken from the text prior to starting the activity. As you go through the list ask your students if any of them know the meaning of each item. Tell them to find the sentences with those phrases and work out the meaning.
speak quitely
speak softly
physical activity
enter a university
grow healthy
wounded soldiers
spent time watching
military airfield
took her first ride
to make the flight
pilot’s license
earn money
made speeches
radio message
female pilot
it did not take long
telephone company
engine expert
to fly across the Atlantic Ocean
weather conditions

2. Divide the phrases into two parts and write them on separate post-its.
3. Stick them in different parts of the classroom: under tables, chairs, on the door, on your back, etc.
4. Put students in pairs or teams depending on your class size and assign them a section of the board each. Students must find as many matching phrases as they can and stick them on their part of the board.

Variantion: Pictionary
Write the phrases on scraps of paper.
Put the students into teams of three or four.
Give them 90 seconds to draw as many as they can for their team to guess.
The team with the most correct guesses wins.

I have just discovered this awesome initiative from The TEFL Zone. Go to the website, explore it and restock your teaching toolbox with amazing ideas πŸ€“πŸ€©πŸ˜
Do you feel you have run out of creative ideas for revision? Then grab this exciting activity that will encourage 100% student participation and engagement. The game I am talking about is called "PICTIONARY".
I tried it today with my 8th grade students to revise the vocabulary from the unit about technology. Watch the video below to see how it is played.

This is the representation of Pictionary from my favourite sitcom "The Big Bang Theory". Enjoy
"Look and remember" cards from www.funglish will be an excellent addition to your speaking class. All you need to do is to print them in color and laminate.
How to use:
Students look at the picture for some time then the card is turned over and students have to answer the questions. Simple but exciting, isn't it?
