Meet Anna Uvarova, conference plenary speaker and workshop presenter from Moscow!

In her plenary talk "CLIL at pre-primary level: research review", Anna is going to review available CLIL-related research of the latest decade focusing on pre-primary education. The conference participants will learn how CLIL effects preschoolers’ language acquisition and what challenges teachers might encounter when implementing CLIL.

In her workshop "Manage your class with a click of your fingers" Anna will show how to manage a group of VYL in a playful way using fingerplays. Fingerplays support language acquisition as well as organizational skills development. Which fingerplays to choose? When and how can they be used? How can they facilitate classroom management with VYL? In this workshop the participants are going to come up with a list of fingerpays that can be used in any VYL classroom. They will also tailor-make some of them to meet the needs of each participant.

Meet Jacob Lake, conference plenary speaker from Yekaterinburg!

In his plenary talk "Experiences and Strategies: Experiences and Strategies
Overcoming the language barrier with young ESL learners." Jacob will discuss a strategy that helps to build a “common language” with our young students and briefly share some of his experience on how this idea can improve every lesson if we put our minds to it. Jacob will also discuss how using this technique can help us to become a bigger part of students' life and world. Concluding, how this can lead to finding the common language we need to inspire and engage with our students.

Intonation as a part of prosody is very often overlooked while teaching foreign languages. However, recent research into the brain reveals interesting connections between intonation and our primary bodily reactions. These links will be discussed during the talk.

Meet Natalia Sivkova, the conference workshop presenter and game session master from Yekaterinburg!

In her workshop, Natalia will teach the participants how to play the educational board games she created for teaching Russian as a foreign language: these games will help students memorize a few Russian verbs and learn the conjugation of Russian verbs, and to be able to ask and answer questions using the most common Russian verbs from the very first class.

During the game session Natalia will teach the attendees to play a few games for ELF students: "Patchwork", "Shapes and colors", British symbols, "Weather", "Watch out, crab" (CVC words), "Jet, jet, jet" (CVC words) and others.
