Boycott Irish Businesses That Don't Accept Cash

There are many businesses and organisations across Ireland which have now implemented a cashless policy.

It is time for people to push back and boycott those businesses and organisations which are enabling the attempted transition to a cashless society. Once cash is gone it is gone. We have an opportunity to act now by sending a strong message that the people of Ireland will not support businesses and organisations that do not accept cash.

The Central Bank of Ireland's position is that even though cash is legal tender a business can refuse cash under Contract Law as long as customers are notified of this policy in advance, eg a sign. This demonstrates that we need enhanced legislation in Ireland to protect the continued use of cash and access to cash services. Lawyers For Justice Ireland will be rolling out a public campaign and we refer to our submissions that people can adapt to push back against such cashless policies.
