After following Reclaim Ireland for roughly the last year since its formation, this is what I see as both the positives and negatives...unfortunately there are alot more negatives.
Positives
1. Good catchy brand name
2. Got people's attention during lockdowns/ vaccine mandates..brought good people together and gave them hope.
Negatives
1. There is no charismatic leader. There is a founder who makes the decisions but regularly says he only wants to get a party going and then step back. This person has regularly threatened to pull the plug also and has a habit of disappearing for weeks/ months on end. This does not help garner confidence from followers. The founder also regularly states that he himself has no interest in running as a candidate unless absolutely necessary, which is a bit uninspiring.
2. There has been no attempt to reach out to and/or get involved with the many protest/ community groups around the country that have sprung up during lockdowns, even though many of these people have been on the live chats and made themselves known. This could have been done on telegram chats by having them on regularly to tell people what they were doing, getting them to talk about and advertise their events, also providing a platform for them to tell people how things were going and build a rapport with them. This could have then been used to garner support and foot soldiers at grass roots level in large numbers. The founder frequently states that protests are a waste of time, thus alienating these people from the group. This has been a massive lost opportunity.
3. There has never been any proper discussion with general members before proceeding to talk to other parties about joining with them...to investigate the pros and cons. This has led to massive division within the group when the founder got in discussions with Re Nua and DDI. The exact same mistake is being made now with the Irish Freedom Party.
4. The live chats are poorly and unprofessionally run, often being chaotic with little or no monitoring. There has been no planning or discussion on how to make these livechats more interesting and thought provoking, in order to draw in professional people who might be able to help.
5. There seems to be no planning whatsoever with the executive running around like headless chickens trying to get a politician on board a group that at present has no traction or substance. There is an inability to understand that even for this reason alone, no politician would touch Reclaim. It would be political suicide.
6. There is a complete lack of accountability by the founder in terms of the mess that was made in the initial party application with the blame just put on others. You are the founder/ leader, the buck stops with you.
The founder themselves stated to me that the party application was so simple the paperwork could be done by a schoolboy in a day, so why wasn't the party application immediately reapplied for when the initial application proved to be incorrect, before the party needing a politician rule came in.
There seemed to be an illusion that those working in the Dail would be accommodative and helpful in getting the application through with a blindness to realise that it was going to be slowed at every step. Did the founder not realise that the system is totally corrupt.
7. There is a complete lack of acceptance and awareness of the power that a large movement can have in influencing things and what it can achieve. This should form the basis for a successful political party.
8. There is a general feeling among members that there is a certain lack of transparency within the group. This is compounded by having an executive group which have their own private meetings and make decisions without discussing things and listening to the group as a whole.
9. There seems to be an inability to bring the group forward as a growing cohesive movement because of the above and lack of planning and foresight.

10. There was no attempt to keep or bring on board left leaning people. Many departed angrily during the DDI/ Re Nua debacle because be it wrong or right they felt Re Nua policies were far right in the past. This should have been fleshed out more and these people listened to. The founder constantly mentioned that the people involved in these parties were good "Christian people" reinforcing some people's views that they were far right. I feel it would have been better to keep religion out of politics as it can and has caused division in the past, and just try to bring good people, who love Ireland together.
11. The group claims to have over 5000 members. Member numbers on a telegram group are in no way indicative of the actual number of people that would turn up for a live event organised by the group.
Also claiming to have candidates in most counties when most of these people were harassed into being candidates as soon as they appeared on the live chat group, many never to be heard from or seen again, is a bit deluded.
12. On top of this none of the candidates or executive were vetted at any stage. This all makes for a very weak foundation.
13. The amount of spam on Reclaim chat and the lack of monitoring of it by admins would lead a person to conclude that a substantial proportion of telegram members on there could be bots. The odd random live chat by the group over the last few months also seemed to attract very few people indicating there is a poor following.
14. Finally, when a group joins another party unless they have a very strong following to give them leverage in the bargaining process and a team leader that is a good negotiator in order to get the best deal possible for Reclaim members, giving them a position of strong influence within the Irish Freedom Party..you are basically just a telegram group adding a few new members to the Freedom Party, a party whose leader does not even reside in Ireland.
Unfortunately that is all that is happening here.
With Reclaim you are basically following a person who themselves admits they have no desire to be a candidate or leader and a person who seems to have never at any stage gotten involved in the actual party application/ registration process, which is all a bit bizarre.
Now they are talking about having virtual Town hall meetings ?????
These are just my opinions. You are free to make your own judgements.

The title of this piece is clearly designed to be click bait. That said, I have no doubt that they intend to realise this objective.
On many occasions people have asked you to join in protest in the hopes the Government would listen to our plea's and reverse decisions made regarding unjust laws.
When these new identity politics laws are introduced, I (and I expect many others) will ask you to join in protest, but not to beg the Government to hear our plea's but to WARN the Government that we will tear this country and society apart before we allow them to restrict our speech.
This is the hill I am willing to die on.
No one and I mean no one, let alone an incompetent power hungry fool like Helen McEntee, will tell me what speech I can use. I will NEVER abide by an unjust law.

Bigots, racists and homophobes face up to five years in jail if convicted under Ireland's new hate laws
It comes after a spate of attacks against members of the LBGTQI community in Dublin over the summer and a growing number of other hate crimes around the country

Tomorrow night 2nd October 9pm to 11pm on our live chat......
We discuss 1. The Budget, 2. Hear from movements around the country on what they are doing and how they are getting on, 3. Have a look at precious metals and bitcoin. Are these really a store of value. If so why are they dropping along with the stock markets?
Everybody welcome

Multiculturalism is a dangerous experiment.
