This may be a childish diary, but my brain is not more than a simple device. I atttempt to share a few snatches about that which accompanied my time in southern Bohemia, on the transformational path of Dark Eros during Samhain week.
On this day i bid adieu to a great man, and no less greater friend; Andrew St. Ledger.
Sure whose name can claim that death paid visit, as expected? Each of us has suffered loss of loved ones before, yet one whose spirit and words were of extraordinary proportion makes me believe that he were immune to the feeble container of death’s hawking.
Friends of our Andrew tell me,
“our mighty oak has fallen”
How fallen, perhaps in body; but surely spirit risen ? Small creature me could feel cheated and robbed on stepping away from home, by you slipping away from mortal life at the exact same hour.
Yet Andrew, how your voice stayed with me this week I was in a distant land.
One week ago, I came to Černívsko to redeem, heal, and inspire myself, and instead the background hum of the irony and surprise of existence followed me here. Could I have somehow stopped you leaving .. blocked the exit door a while later, perhaps .. had i stayed in Ireland during Samhain ?
Our community (you among us) were just mourning the loss of another talented man in east Clare, when your time got called as well .. I am deeply blessed for evey moment we got to share together, both privately and in our vibrant community.
I return on the day of your burial, to an Ireland that is heavier with the realisation of your passing. The closer I am to home, our little green island, the sharper the hole in my heart left by your departure.
Many are those who’ve lost those dearest to them and whose lives were irrevocably changed by such tragedies.
Yet the falling of Andrew’s earthly form is a loss to not only mortal men, but greater still the loss is to the arborial relations to all, our trees, our mycelium networks, our Atlantic island with its hibernian mysteries within. These souls of nation and land keen their lament for Andrew beyond the tears of women and men… 🌳🌲🌳🌳🌳🌲🌳🌳🌲🌲🌲🌳
May i uphold the joy and wisdom you so generously shared at all times, in all places; indeed as Nature herself would gift without boundary, so would i mimic her abundance, as you did so gracefully. Every acorn and oak tree will not fail to invoke your memory, every forest walk in awe of the ecosystem behind men's vision.. your consistent persistence to not only educate on irish woodland, but also to empower (concrete steps each of us could carry out) are like Nature incarnate. And now you have crossed into the pages of those who once were among the living.
And how does one cross the threshold of life and death consciously ?
As you lived your life so conscious and conscientiously, the spirit was already moving within.. slipping into non-physical form again does not alter that (and in fact, i suspect probably amplifies same).
As your surviving friends and family, i do believe it is our duty to consciously hold your crossing as a holy event; one of being born into your spirit origin. This in itself invites kindness, truth, and unconditional love. What more conscious grieving is there?
