Hi, Svetlana! I’ve found two pictures for our project ‘Sport’. Let me tell you about them.

I’ll start with describing them. In the first picture I can see two people in a gym hitting a punching bag. They are wearing boxing gloves and sports uniforms, and there is some special equipment behind them.

In the second photo there are children on a pitch playing football. I assume that they are practising for their future competitions. They are wearing special T-shirts and shorts. They are kicking a ball.

These photos are suitable for our project because they depict 2 different types of sport: an indoor sport like boxing in the first picture and an outdoor sport like football in the second one.

Let me tell you about advantages and disadvantages of the two types of sport. Speaking of boxing, it is a nice way to relieve stress, but on the flip side, it can be dangerous because one can break a limb. As for football, it’s a really interesting kind of sports, especially for young people, and it can give lots of positive emotions, however, you have to play in any weather and it can be unpleasant, especially if it rains

Personally, I would prefer boxing because it is a really useful skill for self-defence.

Благодарю за опубликованные методические рекомендации на основе анализа ошибок участников, это очень полезный документ.

Во время его изучения у меня возникло несколько комментариев, на которые я прошу вас обратить внимание. Именно комментариев, а не вопросов - мне известно, что в ваши обязанности не входят консультации. Также, предвосхищая ваше стандартное пожелание о том, что учителям следует активно пользоваться словарями, сразу сообщаю, что пользуюсь сразу несколькими, в связи с чем и возникают комментарии.

1) На стр 35 читаем " часто допускают лексические ошибки, например: называют участников опроса ‘participants’ вместо ‘respondents’"

Кембриджский словарь тем временем приводит в словарной статье participant следующие примеры, которые дают основания полагать, что в контексте нашей работы мы также можем называть респондентов участниками, как уточняя (the survey participants), так и не уточняя (participants)

Fifty-two participants (53 %) returned the questionnaire on interview preference. (в дефиниции respondent указывается, что это someone who responds to a question - в этом примере люди отвечали на вопросы анкеты, и называются они здесь participants’ вместо ‘respondents)

Кембридж выносит эти примеры в словарную статью для иллюстрации употребления, так что следует обратить на них внимание.

2) Уже несколько лет подряд участникам ЕГЭ снижают баллы за нулевой артикль с respondents, а тем временем в том же словаре в статье respondent (https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/respondent) приводится такой пример In a recent opinion poll, a majority of respondents were against nuclear weapons.
Longman (https://www.ldoceonline.com/dictionary/respondent) :
Only 62 percent of respondents said they were satisfied
In July, 16 % of respondents said lack of skilled labour was likely to limit output.
About 30% of respondents were under 21,36% were 21-30, and 34% over 30; 52% were female.

Нельзя утверждать, что в первых трех примерах у нас идет речь о каких-то респондентах вообще, в целом, и лишь в последнем примере о конкретных, которые приняли участие именно в этом опросе.

И ниже в примерах (https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/respondent) , наряду с примерами с употреблением определенного артикля, встречаются и примеры с нулевым артиклем: Using a life history perspective, respondents were asked to provide a complete household history, including information about the start and dissolution of partner relationships.

Также хочу отметить, что еще в 2023 году в пособии Отличный результат под редакций М.В. Вербицкой на стр 197 приводится пример, в котором участники опроса упоминаются как с определенным (50% of the respondents), так и нулевым артиклем (the percentage of readers, the number of young people, teenagers). Последний встречается несколько раз, так что совершенно точно нулевой артикль не может быть опечаткой.

Два глагола для описания выбора респондентов – choose and opt for, а два существительных – option and response. Умело комбинируя их, мы получаем choose the option, opt for the response, choose the response, которые можем использовать в п2 и 3. Лично мне не нравится opt for the option. Сложно придумать проблему про современные изобретения в целом, не заузив ее до интернета и телефонов (посмотрите, в самом задании примеры изобретений разнородны, так что пришлось писать о самой общей проблеме, такой, которая может случиться с любом изобретением)

I am working on a project on the most popular modern inventions in Zetland and I have found a table with the results of a survey conducted among Zetland teenagers. In this essay I am going to comment on the data and express my opinion on the subject of the project.

To begin with, I would like to mention that answering the survey question "What modern invention do you use most often?" 27% of the respondents choose the option "An electric scooter", and 15% of them opt for "A robotic vacuum cleaner". The least frequently chosen option is "A smart speaker", at 3%.

As can be seen from the table, the proportion of those surveyed who choose the response "A coffee maker" is higher than that of those who opt for "A PSP", at 38% and 17% respectively. This is not surprising as many teenagers drink coffee several times a day to feel fresh and full of energy. At the same time, they can be too busy with their studies to play video games very often.

Unfortunately, there are some problems that can arise with modern inventions. One of them is that such inventions are so sophisticated these days that it can be hard to understand how to use them correctly, which can result in disappointment. A solution is to read a user's manual, or watch a video tutorial online.

In conclusion, I think that the most significant invention of the 21th century is AI because it has various applications in many industries. (253)

Hi Kate, I have found two pictures for our project called An ideal weekend, let me tell you about them.

Let me start with describing them. In the first photo, I can see two guys and a girl sitting on a large sofa in the living room. They are watching TV, probably a horror film, because they look scared but interested. There’s a bowl of popcorn, and the atmosphere seems cozy and relaxed. They are probably siblings spending a weekend together indoors. In the second photo, there’s a girl with an unusual hairstyle. She looks happy and excited, standing near a roller coaster in an amusement park. It’s a bright sunny day, and she is probably going to have a ride. These pictures are great for our project because they show two different ways of spending weekends — staying at home and relaxing, for example, watching a film like in the first picture, and going out to have fun and adventure, like going to an amusement park, like in the second picture.

Now let me tell you about some advantages and disadvantages of the two ways of spending weekends. Watching films at home is cheap or even free, and it’s comfortable and relaxing. You don’t have to travel anywhere, and it’s a great chance to rest after a busy week. However, it can be less social and not very exciting, especially if you spend too much time indoors. As for visiting an amusement park, it’s fun and exciting. You can spend time with friends or family, enjoy rides, and get some adrenaline. On the flip side, it can be expensive, crowded, and depends on the weather.

Personally, I prefer visiting an amusement park because I love active weekends, meeting people, and trying something new. It’s a great way to have a time of my life and create wonderful memories.

Совершенно случайно оказалась на Артфлекшн — это такая выставка-ярмарка авторских украшений/одежды/керамики/свечей ручной работы. Дочь объяснила мне, что туда берут только самых-самых — и не обманула.

Ребята-производители оказались общительными без навязчивости, интересными, необычными и энергичными (и это несмотря на то, что мы приехали уже под закрытие второго дня, и они совершенно точно были вымотаны).

Я познакомилась с дамой из Минска, которая делает потрясающие украшения из стекла и купила бокал из бутылки у Маши-Стекломаши. После чего меня унесло и я очнулась уже дома, с кольцом из мельхиоровой ложки, гальваническим жуком-кулоном, цветочками-серьгами и еще кучей всего.

В общем, активно рекомендую это мероприятие всем тем, кто любит необычные вещи с теплом человеческих рук.

Hi Tom! I found two pictures for our project "Personal means of transport". Let me tell you about them.

I'll start with describing them. In the first picture I can see a man riding an electric scooter in the street. It seems to me that he is riding really fast. In the second photo there are two girls riding bicycles in the countryside. I suggest that they are having a great time together. These photos are suitable for our project because they depict two different means of transport: a means of transport that needs to be charged like an electric scooter in the first photo and a means of transport that doesn't require charging like a bicycle in the second one.

Let me tell you about some advantages and disadvantages of the two means of transport. Speaking of those that need to be charged like an electric scooter, they are fast and effortless. However, they require charging, which takes a lot of time. As for those that don't require charging like a bicycle, they help you to keep fit but on the flip side, they require effort, especially on long distances.

Personally, I prefer a bicycle because it helps me to stay in a good shape and breathe fresh air.
