REPORT: The U.S. government has issued its first geomagnetic storm watch in ~20 years, warning Americans of solar activity that could knock out communications and GPS systems.

According to NOAA, the power grid is at risk and warns Americans of "possible widespread voltage control problems."

The storm is expected to hit Earth on Friday and go through Saturday.

The storm is caused by "a large sunspot cluster has produced several moderate to strong solar flares." (NOAA)

The sunspot is about 16x the diameter of Earth.

The solar storm could also trigger norther lights "unusually far south" on Friday night. (WaPo)

Another example of Asymmetric information. If the Sun is to blame for a lot of what occurs on this planet cyclically then how do you monetize that as a central planner? Well you make sure these facts are not well known and you create false narratives to gain power and control. IMHO the planners know but choose to ignore.

Existential risk from geomagnetic storms is only rivaled by risk from all out nuclear war. Even if our climate models were accurate (which is exceedingly unlikely) it’d be absurd to turn civilization upside down over warming while ignoring the vulnerability of the grid to CMEs.
