People’s Republic of Bangladesh and the Republic of India have a long standing and time-tested Protocol on Transit and Trade through inland waterways of both countries. This Protocol, which was first signed in 1972 (immediately after independence of Bangladesh), is a reflection of shared history and friendship between the two countries. It was last renewed in 2015 for five years with a provision for its automatic renewal for a further period of five years giving long term assurance to various stakeholders.          The Standing Committee on the Protocol and the Shipping Secretary level Talks are the institutional arrangements between the two friendly neighbors to discuss and make the Protocol more effective. In a concerted response to the second surge of COVID-19 infection in the country, Ministry of Ayush is launching a massive nationwide campaign today to distribute its proven poly herbal Ayurvadic drugs AYUSH 64 and Sidha drug Kabasura Kudineer for the benefit of the vast majority of out of hospital COVID patients. The efficacy of these drugs has been proved through robust multi-centre clinical trials. Media ASHAs of Odisha: overcoming COVID related stigma and discrimination Manju Jeena, an ASHA from village Kandalei of Khurda district, Odisha, has been working tirelessly to support COVID-19 related activities and ensure that her community has access to essential and other health services. In her years of committed community service, Manju has built up significant social capital, enabling her to effectively negotiate in addressing COVID related stigma and resultant discrimination. When a young returnee migrant was denied entry into the village and his home, Manju took it upon herself to single-handedly address the stigmatizing behavior of the community. She combined community awareness on COVID-19 with relentless advocacy to ensure that the returnee was able to stay in home quarantine. She rigorously undertook regular follow up on his health status and healthcare needs during the quarantine period. Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) is implementing PradhanMantri YUVA (PM YUVA) Yojana, a pilot scheme, for creating an enabling ecosystem for entrepreneurship development through entrepreneurship education, training, advocacy and easy access to the entrepreneurship network in skill training institutes. The pilot is being implemented in ten States and two UTs including State of Uttarakhand. So far,around 60thousand candidates benefitted from this scheme including 3,836 candidates from the State of Uttarakhand. Further, Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE), Guwahati, an autonomous organization under this Ministry is also providing training, research and consultancy activities in Small and Micro Enterprises (SME), with special focus on entrepreneurship development. Under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) Yojna, the responsibility of identifying the landholder farmer family eligible for benefit under the Scheme and uploading the data of the eligible beneficiaries on the PM-KISAN Portal is that of the States/UT Administrations.  The total number of eligible beneficiaries enrolled/uploaded in the PM-KISAN portal as on 17-09-2020 is 11,07,62,287. The State-wise details of eligible beneficiaries uploaded in the PM-KISAN portal since 2019 till date is given at Annexure-I. Under the Scheme, the States/UTs are required to set up Grievance Redressal Committees for looking into the grievances related to implementation of the scheme. No data of grievances received/disposed of by them is, however, maintained centrally.  The Central government proposed the amalgamation of State-owned Bank of Baroda, Dena Bank and Vijaya Bank to create India’s third largest bank as part of reforms in the public sector banking segment.     The proposal will now need the approval of the boards of these individual banks. The banks’ boards will shortly meet and take up the decision.     The decision was taken at a meeting of a ministerial panel headed by Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley that oversees merger proposals of State-owned banks.
