Ever Wondered Why Pigs Love Mud?

Itโ€™s not just because theyโ€™re dirty โ€” thereโ€™s actually some science behind it.
1. They Donโ€™t Have Sweat Glands
Pigs canโ€™t sweat like humans do, so when the weather gets hot, they roll in mud to cool down. The mud acts like natural air conditioning for them.
2. Mud Protects Their Skin
Pigs have light, sensitive skin. Mud helps block the sun and prevents sunburn. It also keeps annoying insects like flies away.
3. It Helps Clean Them
Funny enough, mud helps pigs stay clean. When it dries and falls off, it takes dirt and parasites along with it.

So next time you see a pig chilling in the mud, know say e dey do smart survival things โ€” not just messing around.

WHY DO MALE SEAHORSES GIVE BIRTH?

In the world of seahorses, the roles are completely reversedโ€”the males are the ones that get pregnant and give birth! When itโ€™s time to reproduce, the female deposits her eggs into a pouch on the maleโ€™s belly. Inside that pouch, the male fertilizes the eggs and carries them like a true underwater dad.

The pouch acts like a womb, providing oxygen and nutrients while protecting the babies as they grow. After a few weeks, the male goes into labor and pushes out dozens or even hundreds of tiny, fully-formed seahorses.

If sea horse be human, them go bell amโ€ฆ

Boanthropy is a rare psychological condition where a person believes they are a cow or an ox. While itโ€™s not a widely studied condition, itโ€™s often mentioned in discussions about unusual mental health disorders.

The term comes from "bovine," relating to cattle, and "anthropy," which refers to human behavior. Historical accounts of boanthropy are quite scarce, but it has been noted in various cultures and literature. One of the most famous references is in the Bible, specifically in the Book of Daniel, where King Nebuchadnezzar is said to have been cursed to live like a beast for a period of time, eating grass and living outdoors.

SCIENTIST OF THE DAY๐Ÿฅผ๐Ÿฆ ๐Ÿ”ฌ

Gertrude B. Elion was a pioneering American biochemist and pharmacologist who made groundbreaking contributions to medicine. Born on January 23, 1918, Elion's work revolutionized the development of life-saving medications.

Elion's research led to the discovery of the first immunosuppressive drug, azathioprine, used to prevent rejection in organ transplants, and the first successful antiviral drug, acyclovir, used to treat herpes infections. She also played a significant role in developing AZT, a treatment for HIV and AIDS, and contributed to cancer research.

Her dedication to science earned her numerous accolades, including the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1988, shared with George H. Hitchings and Sir James Black. Elion was also recognized with the National Medal of Science, the Lemelson-MIT Prize, and induction into the National Inventors Hall of Fame.

Gertrude Elion passed away on February 21, 1999.
