February 21, 1947 | First instant-developing camera, the Land Camera Model 95, is demonstrated by Edwin Land at the Optical Society of America in NYC.
Edwin Land is the co-founder of the Polaroid Corporation, his Polaroid instant camera, which went on sale in late 1948, made it possible for a picture to be taken and developed in 60 seconds or less.
He also invented inexpensive filters for polarizing light, a practical system of in-camera instant photography, and developed his retinex theory of color vision.

First Aid Myth: Splashing water on someone who has fainted will wake them safely.
Fainting occurs when blood flow to the brain temporarily drops, leading to brief loss of consciousness. Pouring water on the face does not restore circulation and may increase choking risk if the person is not fully alert.
Correct response: lay the person flat on their back and gently raise the legs to improve blood flow to the brain. Loosen tight clothing and allow gradual recovery. Seek medical help if unconsciousness lasts more than a few minutes or breathing is abnormal.

February 24, 2020 | Scientists identify the first animal that doesn't need oxygen to breathe: a tiny parasite living in salmon tissue, reported in the journal PNAS.
Henneguya salminicola is a microscopic, multi-cellular cnidarian; a relative of jellyfish and coral; that has evolved to exist without a mitochondrial genome.
This means it does not use aerobic respiration to generate energy, making it an entirely anaerobic animal.
