History Of The Vaccine.

A vaccine is a biological preparation that provides active acquired immunity to a particular infectious or malignant disease.

English physician Dr. Edward Jenner is credited with creating the first vaccination. In 1796, he used a material from cowpox (a disease related to smallpox) to inoculate 8-year-old James Phipps. Two months later, Jenner exposed Phipps to smallpox; but the child did not get the disease. The term โ€œvaccinationโ€ derives from โ€œvacca,โ€ the Latin word for cow.

What vaccines contain
โ€ข Weakened or inactive parts of a germ.
โ€ข Pieces of a germ like proteins.
โ€ข mRNA in some modern vaccines.
โ€ข No live disease-causing dose in routine vaccines
.

How vaccines help
โ€ข Reduce severe illness and death.
โ€ข Protect vulnerable people through community immunity.
โ€ข Prevent disease outbreaks
.
