History Of The Vaccine.
A vaccine is a biological preparation that provides active acquired immunity to a particular infectious or malignant disease.
English physician Dr. Edward Jenner is credited with creating the first vaccination. In 1796, he used a material from cowpox (a disease related to smallpox) to inoculate 8-year-old James Phipps. Two months later, Jenner exposed Phipps to smallpox; but the child did not get the disease. The term โvaccinationโ derives from โvacca,โ the Latin word for cow.
What vaccines contain
โข Weakened or inactive parts of a germ.
โข Pieces of a germ like proteins.
โข mRNA in some modern vaccines.
โข No live disease-causing dose in routine vaccines.
How vaccines help
โข Reduce severe illness and death.
โข Protect vulnerable people through community immunity.
โข Prevent disease outbreaks.
